Tenth Anniversary Awards
Our tenth anniversary year is drawing to a close, so it seemed to me we ought to have an Awards Ceremony. Not like the Oscars or BAFTAs, but to highlight particular threads that members have found useful.
So I'll start, shall I?
I am nominating Katiespark for a Helpful Thread Anniversary Award for the Tutorial - Finishing a Christmas Stocking. It's the go-to place all over the net (I have been reliably told). It now has a Sticky!

I'll second that! I'm unlikely ever to make a Christmas stocking, but if anything would convince me to try, it's her tutorial.

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
I would like to nominate Mabel Figworthy.
Without her inspirational designs I would never have learnt as much as I have. Her use of different stitches has brought a new slant to Hardanger and surface embroidery. I would still be doing the basics with kloster blocks and dove's eyes on 22 count fabric. She has also dazzled us with her take on Goldwork and recently crochet.

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
I will be more than glad to second Wendy's nomination of Mabel! I wouldn't have even considered the possibility of my attempting Hardanger if not for her various threads. I guess I'll have to go look through them to pick one out if that is a requirement. I think I'll be spending some time over in Tips and Tricks (which means I'll be learning some new things probably).
Great idea Serinde! We have some wonderful threads over there!

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
Definitely agree Mabel should get the Specialty Stitches Award!
I was never brave enough to try any of those stitches without her helpful instructions in her SALs.
I'm going to have to go check out that tutorial too!

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
I heartily agree with Mabel's nomination.
Can I make a nomination for 'Most Ambitious Start' (maybe even insanely ambitious.. ). It would go to SteveM for 'The Ionian Mission' (http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... =6&t=28279).
Regards,
Richard.

I too second/support all the above awards - a great idea Serinde. Gosh how the year has flown by - far too fast to grab hold of it and enjoy the quiet times.

Yes indeed! Richard is a valued member of this Forum!
What would we do with our 'spare' time without this Forum??cristaltipps wrote:I agree with all the above and would like to nominate "crossstitchforum.com" for being the nicest, least bitchy, most helpful site i have ever come across, if you come here daily or less often (like me) without fail you are welcomed, helped and encouraged.

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
May I also nominate, in the category of Best Forum Managers in a Major Role Chris and Alex without whom the forum really wouldn't exist. Thanks, guys!
