Madonna finished 28 August page 4

Post by paul »

I know this won't appeal to everyone (in fact wasn't going to do a SAL for it) but it's still cross stitch and it appeals to me.

I've been a fan since I was a child, wanted to do a cross stitch of her for some time but can't find a decent one to do. Couldn't even chart one as all images are copyrighted so this is the next best thing. The artist of this very kindly gave me permission to use his image. This is the original image and what I'm turning into a cross stitch

This is a great project :D it's great to stitch something that means a lot to you. We will all enjoy watching this one. I bored everyone with my Aerosmith projects and Jim Morrison but everyone was still very encouraging even it they weren't fans too. I am looking forward to your updates :applesauce:

It's the stitching we love, and this is, indeed, a very striking piece of artwork.

What fabric are you intending to use?

I agree. A beautiful design!

Please do not count me as part of the everyone being bored. I was not bored. I was fascinated and loved every update. One of the fun things of the forum is the wide variety and creativity we have. And believe me your stitching is anything but boring!

What a beaut design and I am really looking forward to seeing the stitching growing. It is a refreshing change to see her portrayed in a different way - brings her to life more or something.

It will be good watching this one as you stitch it. Each of us has our own particular likes & dislikes, this is what makes the forum interesting. We need to stitch what appeals to us as cross stitch is a hobby to be enjoyed, not endured & if your heart is not in the project then it is a waste of time trying to stitch something. I did that a few years ago, one of the kits I bought I found I was not so keen on after a while but decided to stitch it because I'd bought it. How wrong I was, gave up as I did not look forward to picking it up each evening to stitch it. Half hearted ain't good, I found out the hard way!

That's her face done. I'm stitching this on 18ct and finished piece is 18" x 12" but I'm tempted not to stitch it all, just turn it into a circle piece. Depends where the writing ends really

That's quick! I like the idea of the circle, it would make her face stand out all the more, give it all the focus.

Ooohhh, I like this, you have made a very good start. This is very neatly stitched. Have you been cross stitching long? Look forward to seeing more of this one :applesauce: :)

In my humble opinion one of the very best things of cross stitch is how varied our pieces are. That means we can take interest in other's pieces even if it is not to our own taste. Keep up the good work. :applesauce:

She looks fantastic and I'm glad decided to do a SAL for her :applesauce:

I was a huge fan of Madonna's as a teenager and still like her music today, I remember drawing her portrait I think I was about 14 in my back garden, if I ever come across it I'll post a picture.

What a fantastic piece you've chosen! I'm glad you were able to get permission from the artist. It will be such fun to watch this one come to life. You're making quick work of it, too. I'm looking forward to more updates. :D
