Look what was in my mailbox today!
Donna, thank you - I love it and I guarantee it will go to someone very special (but only because I'm supposed to pass it on - I'd love to keep it!).

Debby I am sure that your gift is really beautiful but sadly I have no picture, just a tiny black box with a cross in it.

Will there be another Bookmark and Card Exchange Linda? I'd love to be in it if there is. I will be stitching a lot of larger projects this year and something smaller will help break up the monotony (for want of a better word!) xxx

Re: Spring Bookmark or Card Exchange
Nicola - all it takes to get an exchange going is someone willing to take the lead and other forum members to sign up. I had participated in a number of Christmas ornament exchanges through this forum but for various reasons one did not take place last year. I really missed it. I looked up the exchange guidelines and decided to try to get one started, no one told me I couldn't, and then various members came on board. There is a little luck involved. Sometimes the invitation is extended but the timing might be all wrong for others. I think the stress or busyness level at this time of year is probably less than through the holidays, which is perhaps why we had a good sign up this time around. It can be tricky in places. I declared a "spring" exchange, but of course it is not spring everywhere around the world. Never-the-less, we had 2 members participate who are in the "fall headed to winter" season in their country. That was very good of them!Nicola Main wrote:Will there be another Bookmark and Card Exchange Linda? I'd love to be in it if there is. One particularly interesting outcome this time around was the inclusion of Poppy in the exchange. A bookmark was not something she had ever tried before and was concerned about how to finish the back. A few members shared web sites with fabric and finishing ideas as well as sites with free patterns. Poppy decided she was "in" and stitched a beautiful bookmark that fellow member Carole will enjoy for years to come. As well, two members new to the forum in 2017 also participated. I think this is a strength of the forum. It provides opportunity and encouragement for both stitching and friendship, even across oceans!
While I would be happy to host another exchange in the future, it might be better to let someone else give it a try. We all have different ideas and strengths and who knows what good things might come from someone else's insights? My experience has been good, and I would encourage anyone who is giving it thought to step up and give it a try. Who knows where it might lead? As you can see from reading the various posts, a lot of fun has been had, members are very appreciative of the opportunity they have been given, and there is a good deal of excitement over giving/receiving to another from far away. Not too much work to host is rewarded with a great deal of satisfaction. Who wouldn't want to give it a try?

It was a brilliant idea and enjoyed by many which is great! I've been absent on and off the last few months and missed the post otherwise I would have signed up. Will keep my eye open in future for any other exchanges that take place xxx

This exchange was really fun. This one was spring - maybe we should do one for autumn. I'd be in for that.
