Re: Happy Holidays
Best wishes for the festive season to all, and a Christmas blessing to all who are happy to receive one!
Christmas day will be quiet here, just DH and me, and we're rather looking forward to that . On Boxing Day we'll have both the boys (well, both men now), and eldest's fiancée - yes, they got themselves engaged last Saturday; we're going to be parents-in-law

Christmas will be just me. I think I'll just make it a jammies day, stitch and watch movies.

Re: Happy Holidays
If your poem is as unique as your designs it will be a wonderful tribute to the young couple.
Very many congratulations to them both

Re: Happy Holidays
Congratulations Mabel. Looks like some wonderful events will make 2018 special.
I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope Santa is good to all of you! We'll have a family get together Christmas Eve. Christmas Day will be me and Laverne feasting on leftovers (if we have some - I tend to make packages of food to send with others so I'm not overly tempted) and binging on favorite movies and planning on having my stitchy bug back home from his adventures (wherever they have taken him).
Anyone who is around (like you will be Debby) are welcome to meet me in the Stash and Grab for hot cinnamon buns and whatever hot drink you want to go with it ( including lattes or or or Irish Coffee with lots of whipped cream).

Re: Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas everyone!
In Sweden we celebrate today on Christmas Eve - it starts around 1 pm with lunch and then the obligatory Donald Duck and friends - a Disney short film collection on TV at 3 pm. The same films every year. The whole Sweden sits down to watch it.
We are just the two of us with Stephen, we take it easy, he is not feeling good and I am dead tired... So we will just have a very simple meal and some chocolate, and read or watch a film. No tree and no presents. No Christmas, to be honest, we are both so sick of all the fuss.
I am thinking, because it is so dark this time of the year, the Swedes start celebrating with the First of Advent, and it goes on like crazy all December. By the time it is Christmas, we have eaten the traditional "julbord" at least 3 times, all the gingerbread and chocolate we need for a whole year, listened to all the songs 15 times - so you can't stand the whole thing any longer.
I wanted my daughter to come but plane tickets were so expensive that we could not afford them. She will come in January instead. This is another reason why I don't feel very festive. But I am enjoying the holiday. I am planning lots of sewing, knitting, stitching - and some work, too. And walks, whenever the weather permits.

Good luck, Mabel -- I'm sure you'll rise to the occasion!
Agi, I've managed to avoid overdosing on "Christmas" so far -- but I think I know what you mean. This far north, the dark days (incessant rain, in our case!), forced enthusiasm... but I've been lighting candles, and stitching and reading (and watching rugby). My mantra is that there are 12 days to Christmas, and what a difference that makes to my world view!
I'm with you! We are having a relatively fuss-free Christmas -- No2 Son is working all week (someone needs to look after the animals!), but No1 Son is here for a few days. We commence feasting this evening on a small scale, and tomorrow is beef (not another turkey!), so actually a very easy meal. Plus various desserts, of course. (Of course!) Then friends over on Boxing Day afternoon to meet a new baby (the one for whom the pram blanket was woven) and then more friends over the next day for dinner. Sounds a lot, but it's not really, and I've already made a gazillion cookies, so there's lots to share if anyone else drops in.rcperryls wrote:Anyone who is around are welcome to meet me in the Stash and Grab for hot cinnamon buns and whatever hot drink you want to go with it ( including lattes or or or Irish Coffee with lots of whipped cream).

Re: Happy Holidays
We have Rotten Colds!! D/H caught it and passed it over to me!
We had planned to have a tinsel free lunch with friends today and I had promised my christmas pud (home made of course!) to go with the meal.
All now postponed until 27th as our friends weren't well either...with 'gastric' as it's called here... and we can't taste anything anyway!
Tomorrow we'll have a stuffed capon which seems to be a speciality made by the wife of the local duck farmer...eye-wateringly expensive but what the heck!! Today we have to 'make do' with steak and chips.
Then on tuesday which isn't Not a B/H here D/H has an appointment with the cardiologist...it's all go!!
So Have fun One and All.
