Hurricane Florence

As I write this, I am at my in-laws house. Hurricane Florence is supposed to have an impact on my town of Myrtle Beach, but also most of South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Please to all who live in these areas, be safe!!

I'm trying not to stress out too much, as I don't know how this is going to impact me. I just hope my condo is still standing and that (i know it's stupid) but my stitching stash, my husbands and my books and my camel collection are not going to be ruined since I have replaced most of it once already and some things can't be replaced.

The main thing is that husband, cats and I are safe and I hope you all stay safe no matter where you are!!!!

Ditto. Still not sure if we will be leaving Wednesday or Thursday. Charleston is on the cusp of that scary cone. We have reservations near my son in Jacksonville if we go. And I always worry about my stash and special momentos also if we have to leave. My thoughts and prayers for everyone watching this storm make its,way through the US. Keep us updated please.

Hope all goes well for you. This hurricane sounds quite large, and could well affect you even though you've evacuated. Just stay safe.

On the Atlanta news this morning they said that Florence was slowing and by the time she nears our cost should be at a category 3 status. I don’t know if that news helps at all as I have never experienced a hurricane. Just the outlaying effects that come through Georgia.

Now in Yulee Florida. Not far from Jacksonville. Pet friendly motel, but we arrived. ER early and have been waiting for our rooms to get ready. We left home at 5:00 am and got here in about 3 1/2 hours. No traffic at that hour. Laverne behaved very well. Probably due to the fact that I gave her a 1/4 of a kitty tranquilizer which usually means she sleeps almost a whole day.

My son is about 15 minutes away so we'll get to see them some which is something positive from this craziness

Carole, I am glad you and Laverne made it safe and sound. I am glad you could find a pet friendly motel!!!

We left Myrtle Beach on Monday after I got back from Rosh Hashana services. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a second cat carrier since they were sold out. Radar is a little kitten and was given to me 3 months ago from one of my pharmacy customers. Darth Kitty and Radar had to get comfy for the 9 hour ride. We got to Maryland at 5 am. Darth Kitty surprisingly was an angel and didn't make a sound. Radar decided to exercise his lungs every 10 mins.

Now they both are not too pleased with me because at 'Grandmas' house, her cats are not too fond of other cats there and they are constantly stuck in the bedroom. I do keep them company but still haha.

Kuschelschef, looks like Charleston will get through this relatively okay. Best I could tell none of the newscasters has arrived to broadcast from Charleston, which is usually a good sign. Especially from the weather channel. Haven't gone further south than myrtl beach. Prayers that your home stays safe
Whenever I evacuate it brings good luck to my neighbors. Next time they will probably send me away it is hard with animals, isn't it? Poor Laverne is so confused, but I think the tranquilizer helped her get through the trip here. Plus she likes to listen to the audiobooks I play in the car.. For,whatever it's worth, I think she has favorite narrators too.
