It took several trials to get the dog's head done. You probably can't tell that there are three different colours of stem stitch! I'm particularly proud of his (it is a him, don't know why) green eye. Madeira metallic thread, almost greeny blue in some light. The centre is my little secret: 005L holographic kreinik blending filament. Spookily dark. Now! On to the beads!

:whoop: I am awestruck by how absolutely beautiful this is! And yes, there are three different, what I would call shades of color, threads. I think if we had audio for the forum, we could hear him barking. Love the eye!

:whoop: He is fabulous! :whoop:

Are the three colours for the head 1, the ear, 2, the outline of the eye and 3, the head itself?

I love the eye, so rich and deep.

You've done a fantastic job on him Serinde.
:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

By the way, does he have a name?

The eye is gorgeous! Is it done in buttonhole stitch :thinks: ?

@ Garnet: the three shades were indeed the head; ear turn-overs and jaw; the sneaky third shade was his little nose! The eye was done with the same threads as the tale, except that I whipped the stem stitch with PTB rather than including it in the needle with the pearl cotton.

@ Mabel. My stitching isn't good enough to have done buttonhole around the eye. I cheated! I outlined the outside with stem stitch and then took straight stitches from the pupil to the outside. Covering the ragged edge with the holographic black tidied it up.

And here he is. I never thought about a name, frankly. He's been the zoomorphic dog... so Z. Dog I guess? And that's a bit of fluff at the bottom right...

Z Dog makes him sound like a rapper - well, he's got plenty of bling :-) !

The beads just finish him off perfectly :applesauce: :applesauce:

:whoop: :whoop: :whoop: He is Fabulous :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

You have done a wonderful job of stitching these two pieces.

You should be very proud of yourself (and your Guild should be too)

Congratulations on your contribution to the Hoard Project.
