Oh! Mabel what a fantastic finish!! :applesauce:

Lexi looks so 'fluffy' in her alter ego. The whole piece is so beautifully balanced, leading the eye from top to bottom seamlessly!

Clever, clever Girl!! :stars:

Really is stupendous.
I am not sure I've seen any other similar quality work that's less than a century old. It's vanishingly rare these days. What a talent you have. And as always, talent needs to be backed up by dedication & hard work, which you apply in abundance.

As I said, stupendous.

Regards,

Richard.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments! Just in case you'd like to read about the process in this last part in a bit more detail, a report of sorts (with lots of pictures :-) ) is now on FoF. Including this one about couching the wool around Lexi:

I agree with Poppy about the sharp needle. I am not used to using those now so it would be most interesting to try, but not today.
A lovely update. :applesauce: :applesauce:

It's been a while..... :-)

But I'm now in the mounting process, and hope to finish it this coming Wednesday when it will be off for assessment (eek!)

Mounting according to the RSN brief is a complicated process, my word, and it involves a LOT of pins.

More detail as usual on FoF.

I wouldn't advise it, Wendy :-)

Dare I admit here, among friends and definitely not in public, that my ambition is a 90% score? There, I've said it!

Remember my mentioning that this piece lost points because of slack mounting? I'm still not quite sure what happened to it between leaving my hands and getting into the hands of the assessors, but slack it certainly was when I got it back :-(
Time for some stretching exercises :-) : sateen off, lacing, and pulling until your fingers hurt (and the thread breaks - oops  ). And now it's ready for framing (and if it slackens again, it can jolly well stay slack!)

Of course I remember this piece. Despite what the RSN said, IMHO it is perfect. I'm sure Lexi thinks she should be the star in all of your designs, and she definitely looks fantastic in this one! Framing is perfect too!

It would be interesting to find out why or how it got so slack - my guess would be gremlins feeling longely and needing something to do :D
