Sounds like he needs to take you out to dinner a few times and you need to drink the while he stays sober so he can practise his driving

Well that calls for another I think.
Well done Mr. Serinde for being cleared to drive, I guess he was good and kept up with his physio then.
Maybe another for looking after Mr. Serinde and doing all the *hicc*

That is good news about Mr Serinde.
Initially I got the wrong end of the stick & thought he'd 'cleared the drive', and was wondering how big the trees were that had come down across it, imagining him wielding a chainsaw and rolling huge logs...
Regards,
Richard

Ha! The Great British Baking Show is one of my all time favorite tv shows. My son and daughter-in-law are also hooked on it.Mabel Figworthy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 4:47 pm Trust me, there's plenty I can't do - one of them is decorate cakes like those fabulous ones you see on Bake Off!
Serinde, I’m glad the hubster is doing well.
Sometimes the words you folks across the pond use are just so much more fun than ours. Why say whipped cream cake when you can say slagroomtaart?

Oh, don't tempt him. He does get frustrated that he wasn't perfectly well yesterday, if you see what I mean. It was good for him to hear from the medic that it will take more than a year before he actually forgets he has a new knee -- that blissful moment when you do something naturally and then remember that it should have been difficult. Right now, the challenge is getting the knee to be perfectly straight. Tins of soup in the pockets of connected oven gloves provide weight at the moment.richardandtracy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 12:52 pm That is good news about Mr Serinde.

Do keep going with the physio, it's important.
My dad didn't do everything when he had a knee replacement, and as a result hasn't got the full range of movement he should have. BUT, as he was 87 when he had it done, if he was OK with that, so am I. He is able to walk to the shops & sea front from where he is, so about half a mile, or use his mobility scooter (and unlike FIL, he has never gone down the pavement on his scooter at 8mph waving his stick at pedestrians screaming 'Get out of the [expletive] way').
My dad has most difficulty walking down his 1-in-3 Devon driveway, walking back up is less of a problem. But at home, now he's 91, he uses a lift to get to his bedroom instead of the stairs. Little rat dog (sorry, 'Short hair Chihuahua called Looie') always races the lift going up the stairs and is there waiting for him with an 'Ha, Ha, I beat you' expression when he gets to the bedroom.
Regards,
Richard

DH also has to concentrate more doing downhill, but he can very nearly get his knee straight now, and is certainly able to walk to the shops and back (1.25mi?), even if at a very regal pace. Age does matter -- I often wondered how older people coped with the exercises (which are painful) -- and DH is significantly younger than your father was when he had his knee done. Good on 'im! Currently down to a single cane, and looking forward to using hiking sticks when necessary when out and about. Still gets pretty puffed going to shops, but it's a matter of building up the atrophied muscle.

Goodness me...6 weeks already!
He has done well.
I've missed out on progress as we've been rather busy recently.
Just waved off our first house guests. They only stayed a long weekend but we had a good few other things to sort out as well and time has rushed us by!

We had house guests over a long weekend. Lovely, but exhausting. I'd forgotten how much cooking needs to be done...!

Lots of preparation and cooking...but they proved to be excellent kitchen elves and kept the washing up and clearing under control.
Still shattered though after they left.

I always think Easter should include lemon, so these are my mother's Lemon Squares, and on a whim I cut them up with a fancy small scone cutter and topped with a little chocolate egg. Gave these to my neighbour, who appreciates such things.

Well, who wouldn't appreciate something as joyous as that! What are lemon squares, please?

Lemon squares are what we in this part of the world would call a tray bake. Basically, it's a sort of shortbread base with a lemony topping. I can PM the recipe if you are interested.
