fccs’s not cross stitch 2023

Post by fccs »

I finished the temperature afghan! All the ends are woven in, I attached a “handmade by” label (which is accidentally upside down and is staying that way), and I washed and dried it…and it stayed together. Yay!! For the border, I added a couple rounds of grey followed by a round with each of the temperature colors in increasing temperatures, and finally another round of grey. I was going to give them a little chart to show which color is which temperature range, but decided to make the “chart” part of the design. It starts with the purple on the top left (with a range of -19F to -10F) and ends at the top of the left side with the aubergine (range 90F to 99F.).

I’m pleased with it and I hope they like it. They get home Sunday from Hawaii. (The edges are all perfectly square, it just looks like it narrows at the bottom because of the way I had it laying on the couch and ottoman.)

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: I think it is a lovely afghan and so perfectly special they are going to adore it and use it I'm sure, even if DC (isn't that where your son and d-i-l live?) I have never seen an afghan like this and I would guess it's because it takes a lot of work. Are you going to send it to them or are you DC watching their dog?

I’m dogsitting for their dogs. I’ve been here since the 25th and I go home the 7th. Yes, they are in the DC area. They work in the District but they live in Virginia. Side note: Before they left for Hawaii, I got a tour of the Pentagon and we went to the National Portrait Gallery. Monday, I took the Metro to the Capitol and did a tour there. Today my plan is to Metro to Arlington National Cemetery.

It’s been a bit chilly, with some rain and a little snow, but it’s fine. Before they left for Hawaii, we went to the National Portrait Gallery and I got a tour of the Pentagon. On my own, I toured the Capitol building Monday and yesterday I went to Arlington National Cemetery. I was supposed to meet up with a high school friend in Alexandria today in Alexandria but she had to cancel.
