Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Was down at a hospital today and got a cortisone shot in my shoulder. It is sooooo sore now. Hopefully it feels better in a few days. And if it’s not better in two weeks I have to return because it means it’s something else.
Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
that your shoulder feels better soon and that the shot is exactly what it needed.

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
I do hope your shoulder is feeling better now.
I suspect you should give the martial arts training a break for a day or two while it eases off, substituting a marathon instead.
Regards,
Richard.

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Thanks for all the well-wishes. It’s feeling better than it has in years. Still some pain. There is some damage just from age and use, but there was a major change after I made the mistake of letting a chiropractor work on it. If the pain I’m having now doesn’t go away I’ll had back to the specialist. They’ve been worried about damage to my spine. X-ray showed some stuff, but we’re still waiting on an MRI.
LOL. I can’t cross stitch. Does that count a martial arts? And I found a pool within walking distance and may start swimming again, since I have more movement in the shoulder. I guess that’s my marathon.richardandtracy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:21 am

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
This has certainly been the "medical" year for me. I went to the eye doctor last week, thinking that it was getting to be time to deal with my cataracts. I have been noticing that my vision has gotten slightly worse, and although I didn't need my annual check until February I didn't want to wait. I noticed when I drove to Atlanta that if it hadn't been for my "navigator" I would probably have missed a few turns because street signs weren't always clear until I was too close to make the turn. Never a problem at home, but I know where I'm going and what the streets are so don't think about it. I know I have cataracts but they have not been a problem. Anyway, its not cataract issues but a relatively common condition that comes with getting older called Macular Pucker. Wrinkles or bulges or scar tissue forms on the macula a membrane over the retina), affecting central vision. Sometimes it can be treated with a change in prescription, but not always. So two days later, I met with the retina specialist and next month (Aug 15), I'll be having a vitrectomy. The surgeon will remove the scar tissue which returns the macula to its proper position. From what I can tell it sounds very much like what cataract removal is like (I've had several friends who have recently had that done).
I've been trying to figure out why my stitchy bug has been so persistent about staying away. I think I didn't want to believe it was because of my eyesight, but between the exhaustion earlier this year with the breast cancer and radiation issues and now this, I think it makes sense. The Star Wars afghan is too warm to work on during the summer (especially this very hot summer) but I am itching to get back to my HAEDs and got really motivated when Jo started talking about working on hers (when all the supplies for it get to her soon ) but then didn't do much besides look at the chart (fortunately on my iPad so I can really zoom in). Short recovery period so I am very hopeful that the rest of 2023 doesn't spring too many other medical issues my way. I'm not used to this and don't want to get used to it

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Never heard of that before. I was expecting to be told I needed cataract surgery, but still not ready.
Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
I haven’t heard of that either, but I’m glad it’s an “easy” fix. I’ve been told I’ve got the beginnings of cataracts but nothing to warrant the surgery yet. I do have some build up of fluid in one eye so I’ve had two injections into my eyeball. I go back in another week to see when the next one will be needed. I think it was about 6-8 weeks between the first two. Sadly, the doctor I’ve been seeing moved away so I have to see a brand new one. I hope she’s as good as the first one.

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
I’d never heard of it either. But when I “googled it” there was lots of information. It’s not as common as cataracts. I’ve heard that if you live long enough, cataracts will show up. My eye doctor said she didn’t think I would need that surgery yet but we’ll tLk about that in February when I have my annual check. Im just glad that she could see my right away. Takes a long time to get an appointment for just a check-up, but if it involves decreased vision or eye pain, they get you in. And I was lucky the specialist could fit me in too.

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Glad to hear it is something they can fix. And I completely agree that eyesight on top of your other heakth challenges this year are more than enough explanation for your AWOL stitchy bug. May it return promptly when your eyesight is back to normal!

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Tomorrow morning is my eye surgery. I am actually looking forward to it because I am itching to stitch. Ever since Jo started posting her Seasons piece I so want to get back to my Dancing with the Cat. Im sure its been well over a year (maybe more?) since I picked it up. Too hot to get back to my Star Wars Afghan but as soon as cool weather comes back (cooler weather. right now it doesn't feel like it will ever get cool again )I will. Also have another baby sampler in the future with a new great grand baby coming in January. I am sure I'll be fine tomorrow, but if you don't hear from me for a few days that's why.

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
The thought of any eye operation makes me cringe. The risk if it goes wrong..
However, it sounds as if the alternative is worse. I do so hope all goes well.

Richard

Re: 2023 St Cross Stitchers Hospital
Everything went well. Big patch on my eye until tomorrow morning when they remove it, check it and then a bit of time. Can’t fit my glasses over the patch so won’t be back in touch until then. Otherwise no problem
