Gorgeous kits, Debby :D I can understand why you could not resist them.

All this material with so many possibilities, Mabel! :whoop:

I was gifted these two kits by my son on Mother's day yesterday. He chose them himself after doing his research into Cross Stitch, he told me. :D

I got some lovely beechwood hoops by Prym - they are beautifully smooth, and rather chunkier than any of the others I've got - they feel very satisfying to hold! The sizes are useful because, being metric, they sort of fall between my existing imperial hoops :-) . I got two 13cm ones, and one each of 16cm and 19cm.
(The third hoop in the second and third pics is one I already had - brand unknown - to show the difference in thickness)

The new one’s are thicker, aren’t they? Might last longer, though? I’ve been quite disappointed with hoops recently. Shall perhaps look out for these.

Helene - good on your son for getting both those lovely kits for you - his research has paid off really well. I look forward to seeing the results one day.

Mabel, what a great and oh so useful gift - they should last a long time that is for sure.

Serinde, I haven't used them yet (they only arrived at the weekend) but they feel reassuringly sturdy - I like the fact that they have more "meat" to them, and the smoothness of them; the hardware also looks good and solid. They are a little more expensive than your average Fiesta or Elbesee wooden hoop (and they come in cm sizes rather than inches, but that shouldn't be a problem :-) ) but my first impressions are really positive. I got them from Jaycott's (the link goes straight to the hoops).

The hoops look wonderful -- so does Jaycott's, of whom I'd never heard. (Oh, dear.)

Have fallen for this kit so had to buy it! So unusual to have the colours and the backstitch in this artistic way :)

I don't think I've ever seen a design like that for cross stitch. Original and beautiful. Looks just like a lovely watercolor painting.

I quite agree with Carole as that was my thought too. I am definitely going to enjoy watching this one come to life under your needle and thread. :)

Been so naughty today and have bought two flower kits in Easter sales at reduced prices! Firstly Heritage Craft 'Sweet Pea Posy' and Magic Needle 'Rosa Canina' which I've been eyeing up for weeks! Both are part of sets so, knowing me, I'll probably want the rest too!

Very understandable wanting these 2 and then finding them on special well it was a sort of must do it now or forever regret it. Good on you for buying them both, they are lovely.
Whilst I love sweet peas and this design is a lovely one I really prefer the Rosa Canina, it is a fabulous design. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Beautiful kits Nicola, the second one is so unusual  it.

I also have 4 of the Heritage posy collection, they will be a joy to stitch.

We definitely need more hours in the day to fit these beauties in.

You've made some REALLY good choices there, Nicola! I'd definitely stitch all of these myself. As others have pointed out, that watercolour look is just so beautiful.

Look what our lovely Héléne (Poppy) sent me.

Such a beautiful card and those needles will be oh so useful.

Thank you so much Héléne.

It really is so lovely, the friendships we form on this forum, there is nothing "virtual" about them.

I love our little corner of the internet. :whoop: :whoop:
