What a great design, and you've made a good start on it. You are so organised, planning for all these anniversaries well in advance, I'm deeply impressed!

OK here is the latest update showing the first set of leaves and berries together with some wording. As you can see I have managed to get it into my 10" hoop - but only just, so I will be doing as much as I can before I move the hoop over.

Unfortunately the thread for the b/s on leaves and the wording is a :tantrum: to knot no matter how many times I let it hang and untangle - its just one of those ones which love to do it. Its DMC 730

Thanks for looking.

I have never used Anchor, but yes, DMC, I find, does twist and knot easily, especially if you have to back pedal a few stitches and redo ... but I am used to it, being the only brand I have ever worked with :) Maybe I will try an Anchor kit one day to test the difference.

I love this owl kit, my dad loves owls, I might have to do it for him one day :) you are doing a great job, knots or not!
So many HAEDs I couldn't possibly list them all. Current favorites are Dragon Kin, Sea Unicorns (QS), April Fairy, What's This, Dahlia, and so many starts going on. Love to cross stitch! Find me on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/brekkana.kultiras

Lovely work! I'm sorry your thread is being so annoying, very frustrating. Would it help to railroad every stitch? It's a bit labour intensive, I know, but it might make just that bit of difference

I think the answer is more likely to be to use shorter lengths. I tend to use very long lengths when stitching wording with 1 thread and as this particular colour is one which has been in the box for a goodly number of years it is only going to behave if I shorten it somewhat.
I will certainly try that theory and on the next bit of wording.

Thanks for the hint Mable, railroading is good and I almost always use it now when I am using blended colours to get them laying right. :)

Here is the latest update for you all. I am really enjoying stitching this bright and happy one. The last stitches of the log on the left hand side mark the halfway mark. In between Mr Daddy Owl are 2 smaller owls asleep.
