Oh what a relief for you that the tendons aren't badly damaged.
I hope you take lots of care now and do as they say, it's the best way to a quick recovery, even if it does get annoying to be limited.

Make sure you rest up as much as you can.

Good to hear the damage is temporary! Now will you listen to auntie Serinde :-) and do as the doctors tell you? I know it's tempting to start doing things before they tell you you can (I'll just try this -- hmm, that's not too painful, I'll try a bit more -- and a bit more -- OUCH).
Just make sure you get plenty of pampering and promises of stash shopping sprees :-)

Oh, poor, poor Dawn!

Try to be patient and let it heal properly. So sorry for your pain, but so glad there is no long-term effect.

Oh what a shame you'll just have to let everyone else do absolutely everything over Christmas. You may do nothing more strenuous than opening presents.

I have to say, I can think of worse situations to be in!

That sounds painful. Please try really hard to take it easy and not overdo it once the painkillers have kicked in. I'm glad it isn't worse and hope it heals quickly and well.

My youngest son had the same accident when he was just 3 yrs. old...eldest son accidentally closed the bedroom door while youngest son's right hand still at it...it was soooo terrible...90% sliced the tip ( from tip to half of the nail) of his ring finger! Thankfully no bone was damaged but have to be stitched to get it back together.

As I was reading your post...I really can relate with the trouble you've been in...I really am thankful that no tendons were damaged..and I'm really hoping it'll heal well soon....I know the pain will really be at it's worst for a couple of days...so, lots of HUGS and prayers coming along your way.

Oh Mayne that sounds painful poor thing :(

I'm getting really annoyed with myself at the moment as I'm right handed and its my right hand thats been damaged. Its so hard to do thing you normally find so simple on a day to day basis.

The pills are making me feel sick and I can't sleep (I sleep on my right side with my hand under my face) :(

I'm not a happy puppy at all.

Poor you! I hope you will feel better soon, and the pain will ease.

Charmagne, I had the same accident when I was about 3. It distorted the nail on my middle finger, it is still crooked. :(

That's really annoying added to the fact that you're right handed and can't use that...I really hope everything will be better soon...

Oh, sorry to hear about that Agi  ...my son's ring finger nail when it healed is longer than normal and yeah, a little crooked just like yours...we're all extremely cautious in closing doors now

You poor girl! That sounds really dreadful - and you not liking hospitals doesn't help at all.
But I'm very glad for you that it is mendable, even if it still feels dreadful at the moment. I am imagining you sitting in front of your monitor, laboriously typing with just your left hand, cursing steadily...

If the pain killers are making you feel sick maybe you need to have them with food. Many painkillers are not good for your stomach lining and need something like a biscuit or toast or something as a barrier.

Please be very careful and follow the doctors orders so that you heal properly.

Hope the pain diminishes quickly and that your hand becomes more comfortable.
