Very cool update. I understand your desire to try something with more colours than the last. I'm getting bogged down in my current project for that reason.

Yes it is. Here a picture to show the location of it.

This has 8 pages of A4 paper to make the whole pattern and I'm 20 stitches away from half way on the height. So it's going to be rather big.

Help needed from all you evenweave stitchers please.

If you look at the red backstitch lines on the picture below you will notice there's a symbol either side of the red line. how do I stitch that as I'm doing this on 16ct aida so I can't do quarter stitches can ? As I'm thinking it wouldn't look right. All the symbols you see in the picture are different shades of blue. What I was going to do is take a strand of both symbols and put them together to stitch those parts.

I have never come across this before. Thank you for the help in advance that I know all of you will offer

I think you do a x in both colours but they're both done in the same square. I think you call them squashed stitches. :D

I think I would still do the 1/4 stitch and come up in the middle of the square. That is what I do for all the fractionals that I have done on my afghans which are 18ct and I work 2 over 1 so it isnt' as if I was working over 2 and could just easily do a 1/4 stitch. And until I joined this forum and started really learning about different fabrics etc I didn't know I was supposed to do it any other way. The few times I did a pattern over 2 and came across a fractional I almost felt like I was cheating. Its a little bit tricker because you have to find the middle of the square, but when you do the back stitch you can't tell. I could try and take a close up of one of the designs that I did, but it worked for some really complicated Teresa Wentzler designs. I never tried blending for this purpose and can't really picture how it would look. It might work since they are different shades of the same color. Maybe some one else has tried it or done something different. Wish I could be more helpful.

I'd do 1/4 stitches--it's definitely doable, just takes a steady eye and hand--I've done about a million 1/4 stitches on aida with very good success :)

Hi Paul, you know I love Disney and have followed your path the whole way, I think you will find (google it) your stitches are called 'squashed' stitches, when you get two colours next to each other and not on the diagonal you squash them so do a tall cross on the left and a tall cross on the right and it makes one normal cross stitch but two colours, instead of quarter and three quarter stitches they use squashed stitches where the detail is linear, equally you get squashed stitches going across as well, have done them a lot in Susan Littlejohns pictures and they are being used in quite a few new designs now. I hope I explained it okay? It is easy when on evenweave as you just use the middle top and bottom hole but on aida you have to pierce the fabric, give it a go, once the back stitch is in you will see why they put squashed stitches in.
Happy Stitching
