Sorry I waited until the absolute last minute Donna, but I have your stitch packaged and will send it off today on my lunch break! I had it ready Saturday but misremembered the post office's hours and didn't get there until after they closed. I hope you enjoy it!
Also, on this project I finally mastered the french knot! The last time I tried a knot it was a Christmas ornament with about 50 knots and I gave up, but this one only had a few knots and I can now consistently do them! They don't all look quite uniform, but at least they don't end up unraveling. I'm not sure why I found them so difficult but I'm very excited now that I can do them consistently

Whoo-hoo!
Good for you! Thanks for the update and the good news of a new skill learned, one you will be happy to have for years to come. Looking forward to seeing your hard, but enjoyable, work.

Well I pushed it to the last minute but I got my stitching packaged and in the mail to Poppy yesterday on my lunch break.
Here's to praying
it makes it to England in a safe and timely manner.

Wow! I bet you feel great!
Thanks for the update.
We still have some exciting days ahead of us as a few more will soon find envelopes in their mailboxes that will open to reveal treasures. All of you hang in; you know you want to still be a part of it until the very last reveal.

So, what is everyone doing while we wait? Any vacations planned? I got my foot cast off today, and have graduated to a boot cast. While this is progress, it feels like a step backwards - all that poking around my foot has made it quite sore. And as much as I would like to get some stitching done, my mind can't seem to focus on a pattern on the moment. I am enjoying some great books, though. Hubby was back at the library for me again last night. Love a good story!

No sticky involved.
Just two pieces of aida (bigger than finished size) - running stitched together, then cut to size and frayed.
It is a bit fiddly to do.
Also if one piece is heavily stitched and the other not, then the tension of each piece will be slightly different - steam pressing helps a bit.
When cutting and fraying, it is better to cut and fray each side separately (yes, fiddly
)
I had tried something very similar once. Two pieces of Aida, with a nun's stitch around it, worked great until I got to the third corner...then it just didn't "fit". I think I'll try running stitch next time.

I got it and it's amazing Serinde!
The picture doesn't accurately capture the different colors. Most of it is a purple/grey with some pink & blue around the squares in the middle and in the tassle. Absolutely lovely! Thank you, thank you!!! Makes me want to start reading a beautiful book to match this beautiful bookmark.

Whew! Glad it got there, and pleased you like it. The colours were DMC 3743 (pearl 8 and stranded cotton for the cable stitch) and Caron Morning Mist for the colours bits and tassle. Fabric was a piece originally from Mabel -- Jobelan, perhaps Plum blossom? Dusty purple. All sort of early morning mauve, I guess.
