Garnet, I am happy you're facing better times! I sure hope you stay on the better path. I mean your health situation. It's not nice when the air just doesn't go where it should go.

I just have to vent a bit now.
Yesterday I was on my way home from Graz, I had visited my boyfriend there.

At the station there was a sudden change of track, general hustle and bustle, we had to go down the stairs and up again on the other side. In the crowd I overlooked a step and with my weight plus of course the heavy suitcase I fell down, severely in pain.

Then I had another 2.5h train ride in front of me, luckily without having to change trains anymore.
In the evening then straight to the emergency room, where they told me that the heel bone is broken. Fortunately it's a relatively uncomplicated fracture, so no surgery was necessary, but still I have to wear a cast for the next 4-6 weeks now.
Fortunately I still live at my Mom's, so that at least I'm not alone.

Oh Sina, so sorry to hear about your broken heel bone! I brought you some field flowers, which I know you like, and a hot chocolate.
Please keep us posted with your progress. It is good that no surgery is needed. Sending healing vibes your way...

It is! I don't even get to cross stitch, it's quite difficult to reach my stitching spot

Oh dear, even more of a shame. I imagined you propped up with plump pillows on hopsital bed & stitching to pass the time. Hope you have your faovurite drink & nibbles within arms reach while recoupration is taking place Get well soon.

Oh my! It hurts just to think about it. So glad that you didn't have to change trains after your accident and that no surgery is needed. Hopefully it won't be too long before you can get to your stitching spot and have that to help you get through the recovery time. Remember you barely need to signal for what you need while you are here since the nurses are the most attentive and responsive. Keep us updated please on your progress.

mysterystitcher, no dietary restrictions whatsoever so I'll gladly take a or two but will share with you all

Just take 1 day at a time for the time being until that bone has become as it was.

Oh No! I am sorry to read this Sina, I hope you had good news at your appointment this morning. Plenty of in the meantime.

I have a little update for you all. Went to the orthopedic specialist on Monday and all I can say is that it was a desaster!
One of the doctor's assistant insisted on me being able to climb up a step with my broken foot, thank God I refused to as this could have smashed it even more! At the end she made me a new cast which then had to be removed yesterday at the hospital's emergency department, it was padded completely wrong, causing even more pain and eventually it could have delayed or even worsened healing ov the bones.

Got two wrong prescriptions for an orthosis I definitely need, in the end they kind of made us leave with nothing. Fortunately, at least the man from the medical service we are in contact with knew exactly what was needed, he contacted the head physician of the hospital where I went the first time and the right thing has been prescribed to me at last.

As soon as the swelling will be gone I will now get to wear a heel relief orthosis, which is very nice as you get to start walking again only 8-12 days after the injury. That means now cast anymore from next week onwards!

They also arranged it so that I don't have to go back to that doctor ever again. I now have weekly appointments at the hospital.
