Probably my last 2 finishes of 2021. First a stitch finish.

This second finish is a ribbon skirt. My granddaughter will love it. I’ve never seen one for a Barbie, and I added my granddaughter’s Spirit Animal, a cardinal.

Really good looking stitching on the stocking.
I also really appreciate your help with the finishing.
Best wishes

Fantastic finish on the stocking and I really love Barbie's new outfit.
Clever use of ribbons. :applesauce: It was never an easy job making clothes for those dolls. I remember!!! :tizzy:

Ribbon skirts are traditional clothing for Indigenous women. They represent resilience, sacredness and survival. They are worn for ceremonies, and my granddaughter often wears them to PowWows. It’s also becoming more common for men to wear ribbon shirts or pants, though at his naming ceremony my son chose to pin his ribbons on to his shirt instead of having them sewn on, and he doesn’t regularly wear them to ceremonies or PowWow.

That stocking is a beauty! And what a lovely idea to make that meaningful skirt for her Barbie. A friend of mine has just made clothes for a set of Barbies (and other similar dolls) which she picked specifically to represent her granddaughter's very mixed family (Ghanaian, white English, and mixed race) so that she had a doll, as the little girl said, "with hair like mine!", and others like her loved ones.

I love that Mabel. Glad I’m not the only grandma that thinks like this. I’m heading to a store today, and if I can find some faux leather I want to make some moccasins and a medicine bag for her Barbie too.

The stocking and the ribbon skirt are fabulous. I can’t wait see tiny Barbie moccasins and a medicine bag.
