They're just ordinary cotton bags; I'm not sure they'd stand up to carrying loads of heavy shopping (like tins or bottles) regulary, but I've used them to take my stitching to stitching group, and for Knitting & Stitching Shoe shopping, and that sort of thing, and they're perfect for that. They may even be OK with the heavy shopping I described, it's just that I haven't tried them with it :-)

It's a lovely rainy Bank Holiday here today and hubby has a concert so is out all day. So in typical British fashion, the girls and I visited a National Trust house, Baddersley Clinton near Warwick. It's a fascinating Tudor house, full of priest holes and surrounded by a moat. Among the things going on was a second hand book sale, which ends today. There was no post today, it being a holiday, but I think these can be classed as 'acquisitions', rather than what the postman bought.

What a wonderful find. NT homes are a Sunday afternoon tradition with us. My dad refused to drive anywhere on a bank holiday

Great going Jo, they will provide lots of ideas and inspiration (should you need any) I'm sure.

Rose, love the sound of your threads. Guess one should be starting to think about Christmas stitching soon.

I had a a surprise package from the States, turns out i won a Door prize during the Online Needlework show. It's chart for a small reproduction sampler from The Marking Sampler "Caroline Stevens 1837" (it's the third design down)

Hopefully my order from sewandso arrives tomorrow, and my R R Craft one should be on it's way to.

Needles!

Gold plated, size 26 and size 28 direct from John James needles (cheaper than Sew and So and just as fast! Ordered yesterday lunchtime, arrived today).

Should have enough size 26 needles now for every thread in secret project 2 (that I haven't told you guys about yet and has no SAL page yet as it's going so badly!)

The size 28s are for my HAED storykeep and future HAEDs.

I'm looking forward to sorting my needles and putting them in different needlecases by size.

I was quite excited to get these  :) -- they are woven labels to be sewn into the bags I'm putting together, and possible other projects (I may slip one into the back of framed pieces)

Love the labels Mabel! I've often thought of getting some personalised ones for sewing on to handmade things/cards/stitched pieces. They remind me of the (far more boring) ones that had to be sewn into every item of my school uniform!
