The background is now complete and other than a little treat that I am saving for last I'm ready to start the backstitching on my Robin.

Finally I've finished the backstitching

Image

Thankfully it does not look too bad from the back:

Image

This one will join my Wren and will go with the third one in the set (Kingfisher) to be framed by someone who knows more about framing than I do

As a reward (and to keep myself sane) I picked up another cross stitch to start. A quick and easy one this time on a piece of Adia

Its another :whoop:

:applesauce: :applesauce: Congratulations on a beautiful finish. I agree that the back is exceptionally neat. I know that can be a tricky task since with the afghans I have stitched I pay a lot more attention to the backs than I do with pieces that will be framed. Looking forward to seeing the whole set together!

Thank you for your kind comments :) .

My grandmother always told me show me the back of your work before you show me the front - then she would ask what could have done better on the back before she would look at the front. It is probably more important on pieces which have the risk of being turned over  and have someone else look at it.

 I've just realised I failed to give you my weekly update yesterday.

I have been working on the dead leaves under the pot:

This morning I had moved my workpiece out to the conservatory:

It was a lovely temperature out there, this afternoon it is over 30 degrees so I am considering moving it back to the dining room to continue :thinks:

Thank you for your kind comments. :)

It is very nice having somewhere to do my cross stitch under natural daylight. I find that (on 14 count Aida) I can even do my stitching without the magnifier. Today I will try to remember to open the windows during the day so it is cool enough for stitching in the evening.

Mentioning magnifiers: You may have seen on my magnetic pattern board I have a Prym line magnifier. I picked this up a couple of days ago and the first time I moved the pattern under the magnets it fell on the vinal floor and two corners chipped off :tantrum: So the plastic is a bit brittle and will only get harder with age. For now I have wrapped some magic tape round the ends to try to protect it when I move my pattern and it falls off again.

I have one of those acrylic magnetic markers. Those magnets are so strong aren't they...but as you say when they fall off! Mine landed on my foot and Ouch! Big bruise!

I loved stitching in our conservatory in France, luckily in Summer it was shaded by the fig tree and it had a solid roof so it didn't get too hot.
Our New Build bungalow has a 'garden room' also with solid roof so although it faces south may not get too warm :x:

It has been a bit cold out in the conservatory since I complained about it being too warm last week

I owe you an update and now you should have no problem recognising it is:
