I'm now at 3/10 because of the Ixworth. But that Yokohoma is stunning. I love the long tail feathers.

Getting close now for some of you, here are todays picks

19...New Hampshire
Image
As the name suggests the breed originated in New Hampshire USA. The breed began with the Rhode Island Red. After several genarations of intensive breeding, the bird we see today emerged. It's main characteristics are early maturity, rapid full feathering and production of large brown eggs. It's colouring is a rich chestnut red and is a duel purpose bird though more used for meat then eggs

25...Rumpless Arauca
Image
The only information I could find on this breeed is as follows. They originated in Chile and come in a variety of colours including black, white and blue and they lay blue eggs. The Rumpless part of their name refers to the lack of tail.

:D I got both today!! I am now at :chicken: :chicken: :chicken: /10 and think "rumpless" is the oddest looking chicken. Reminds of a bird with no tail also, but I can't think of its name. These both have lovely coloring. Good luck to those of you close to the finish. I think it isn't going to take too long to get a winner now.

Here goes for day seven
11...Frizian Fowl
Image
The breed originated in the Friesian Island of the Netherlands. Although the breed was not seen in Britain untill the 1930s, excavations in the Netherlands show the breed as been around for over 1000 years! Although only a small bird, they are prolific layers and have been known to lay over 230 eggs a year. Standard colours are Gold Pencilled, Silver Pencilled and Chamois pencilled. The picture is of the Gold colour

24...Roscomb Bantam
Image

This is apparently an old breed in Britain although little is known of the history. Although the adult birds are hardy in both hot and cold climates they have a history of poor fertility. There is also a history of poor hatchability which makes them a difficult bird to breed.
They are a large breed with a vivid Rose comb, and striking white earlobes and wattles

:chicken: for me today. So I am speeding along and have 4/10. The Frizian is a lovely color, which strikes me as strange to say about a :chicken:, but I am coming to appreciate them for more than just eggs and good eats.
