Chart grab bag charity giveaway - all gone now

Post by Kute Kitty »

I've recently taken the opportunity to sort through all of my charts and take out all those ones I'm never likely to do because they're not to my taste, or which I've got two copies of (one of which I've bought new and one of which I've picked up somewhere along the line in a bargain box - there are no illegal copies here) so now I've got a large number of charts which I'm unlikely to ever stitch. What I would like to do, of course, is pass them on to people who will stitch them.

There are simply too many to list them individually, so what I will do is break them down in to grab bags. Each bag will be an envelope containing 5 charts - these are mostly from magazines, so "one chart" may in fact be one large design or it could be a selection of smaller designs all of which follow one theme.

I will send a grab bag to any individual who PM's me with their address details. All postage will be at my own expense. If you have family or friends who stitch and might like to receive a random selection of new charts, I will happily send out to them too, just send me their addresses! In return, I would ask that everyone who receives a grab bag to give some money to a cancer or heart charity of their choice. (My mother died of cancer and my father has heart problems). I'm not saying I'm going to make you set up a regular monthly donation (but if you want to I'm not going to stop you either!) just next time you're passing a cancer or heart-related charity shop, stop in and put some spare change in their collection box.

I won't promise the inclusion or exclusion of any particular chart or theme, because I'm going to put the charts in envelopes here first, so when the PM's start flooding in I can just pick up an envelope, write an address on it, and Bob's your uncle. Obviously I've got no way to check that people are giving to charity, but I trust you all! I'll try to send charts out within 3 days of receiving a request for them, and I'll send anywhere in the world.

*sits back and hopes other people think this is a good idea so will start requesting charts!*

Hi there :D I would love to have one of your grab bags :applesauce: I will of course give some money to either type of charity - my beloved BIL died of cancer at the age of 36, and my father now has serious heart problems. What a great idea! :applesauce: PM on its way.

This is a lovely idea. Both my MIL and I have recently completed the race for life so think that giving to charity is a great idea. We shall both be donating the next time we see a box. If you have any left we would both like one.x PMs on their way.x

Well, I've drowned slightly in the flood of PM's so I'm afraid I won't be able to reply individually to them. For those with questions though...

I'm happy to post anywhere in the world, at my own expense, so please don't even worry about that.
Donations to a charity should be one of your choosing, and one which is convenient to you, it doesn't have to be an English one by any means.
Stitching to raise money for charity definitely counts, and is completely within the spirit of this whole endeavour :)
I'll happily send out two grab bags to one address - might end up putting 10 charts in one envelope in that case, because it'll just be slightly easier on me for the postage, then you can work out between yourself and your partner/friend/MIL/etc which ones go to who (no fighting please, you can share!)

I'll definitely get all the ones requested thus far out this week...I'll be sending a lot of thank you cards as well, from my birthday, and a wedding RSVP, so the poor post office workers won't know what's hit them!

The first 10 grab bags have hardly made a dent in the pile of charts I have so please keep the requests coming in! Dearly beloved works at a stationery shop so is going to pick up a pack of 25 envelopes for me tonight, isn't he good, so I can bag up some more and get the first "batch" on their way :)
