Lovely work on the Madonna and I like your crazy patchwork. It looks like a great way to use odds bits of fabric. :applesauce:

In the past few days I have been stitching my stitches sampler pillowcase. I made five new little blocks: the bottom row and the one in the end of the second row:

Image

some close ups:

Image
One is cross stitch alternating with a standing cross stitch (? - I am so sorry, I never remember the names of the stitches in English, and my Cross Stitcher Bible is in Hungarian). The other one is an experiment with huckaback aka Swedish weaving on Aida, not very good - it looks much better on a bigger scale, though.

Image

In this photo one is cross stitch, with an Algerian eye (?) in the middle, the other is Assissi.

And here comes my pride
Image

This is absolutely not perfect, rather a learning piece, but I still like the overall effect. I was learning the bullion stitch, the woven spider rose (or something like this) and the buttonhole flower (the pale yellow one - I don't like that too much). Then I filled the remaining place with French knots. Started at the top left corner, you can see how the size differs , but as I went on I learnt to control the size a bit more. At the end I almost managed to make indentical ones.

Beautiful stitching Agi, and the last one with all the french knots is brilliant. I actually like the different sizes french knots, they look like litle bubbles and imo give the piece a lovely added texture.

This is exactly what samplers are designed for. I really like all the blocks. Surface stitching, like the bullion knots and spider's web require an entirely different needle and thread control. Practice makes perfect! :wip:

I have done 4 more blocks on the stitches sampler:

Image

from left ro right: Queen stitches, coaching, have no idea what the pink one was called, and at the right end some kind of woven stitch.

This is how it looks next to the former ones:

Image

And the whole thing so far:

I took out my long abandoned Nature project. I lost heart after stitching the middle pattern being afraid to miscount where to place the other parts. Today I gathered my courage, cut out a rough copy of the frame from a piece of paper and stitched two more panels:

Together (sorry, this is a bit blurry):

And with the paper "frame":
