Forever Friends - Learn The Alphabet. (Updated 22/11/10)

Right the wife and children have decided to take an holiday in Spain. Unfortunatly having just changed jobs i wasnt able to get time off to join them. So to make me feel better about missing out on a week in the sun she brought me a kit. Its the Forever Friends - Learn The Alphabet, its stitched on 14 count aida and the finished size is 38.5 x 28.5cm (15" x 11"). Well i was planning on doing a stitch sesson post, but unfortunatly my darling wife decided to take the camera with her.
As it stands now ive just finished the letter A (minus the back stitch) and about to start on the first bear. When she gets back ill take a picture and post it.

As any other member stitched this kit? if so what do you think of it?

This is coming along better than i expected. The only change im making is replaceing the white in the alphabet with Madeira Metallic number 342 silver. The only problem is that ive never used Metallics before. So could someone please tell me how many strands i should be using.

As for the metallics Im no expert, but I normally use one strand as using to just drives me bonkers trying to make it behave even with the help of thread heaven.... why dont you try doing some test stitches and see what you like...

In my experience, Madeira metallics behaves muh better than DMC - and I use 1 strand of it, normally. Maybe you can do some experiments on a piece of scrap fabric.

It was very sweet of your wife to get you a new kit and it looks very cute. Hope you enjoy working on it, sounds like its coming along pretty fast. I like the idea of the metallic thread in place of white!

Its coming along quite nice to be honest. Altho i did have to spend around 5 hours this morning un-picking a section that for some strainge reason i stitched twice. But thing are back on track now. I promise ther will be pictures when the wife gets back form holiday with the camera.
