I just read this in a health magazine. It might also be useful to pass onto that nutty woman at the dating service who thinks stitching disqualifies you from having a life!!
"Brain maps show that the nerve endings on fingertips connect with more areas of the brain than those anywhere else on the body. That's why women who play the piano, do needlework and otherwise challenge their digits stay sharper. In fact, new research confirms that finger exercises help increase brain mass and boost brain circulation."
So there!!

"The world, as a colourful knot of threads, has turned into a memory, and now you cannot be sure whether it was real." (Géza Ottlik, Hungarian writer)
Anything repetitious like needlework (whether it's knitting, crocheting, embroidery or cross stitching) is actually all math related. It focuses on numbers and that stimulates brain activity. I know those suffering with Alzheimer's are asked to cross words or needle work of some kind.
So in conclusion, that woman at the dating agency is a complete moron. But we all knew this.
Actually I wonder if it wasn't my brains that were actually the problem. She seemed a bit concerned when I told her I was a managing solicitor too ...
But I am NOT surprised to read that. The level of intelligence is much higher on this forum than on others I've visited and all my stitchy friends are brainiacs lol.

Maybe if she took up stitching she'd be smarter - LOL!
That is fabulous news, I knew there was a reason I was a stitcher!!! I guess that means my sister is a genius of some sort, she knits, embroiders AND plays piano!
