Pako organiser

I've seen some of the posts discussing the Pako needle organiser and looked at the one on Sew and Sew, but how does it work exactly please? Never come across it before, thanks!

Basically you need a lot of needles! Then thread each up and you then use the chart to add the symbols on to the needle organiser.

Makes it faster when there is a lot of confetti.

And in addition there is the thread organizer aswell. I have both, but mostly use the thread organizer.

You can see how I had mine set up for a 200 colour project on my blog here http://www.morecambesands.com/morecambe ... otate.html. If you click the bottom picture it will enlarge.
Currently I have 2 HAED's on the go and I use 2 pakos on each. When I swap projects I leave the pakos loaded and keep them in a plastic box. As I can only use gold needles due to nickel allergy it was quite expensive to set up but I love my pakos and it makes HAED's so much easier to stitch.

I've looked at the Pako organizer a few times, but I haven't invested yet. I have started pre-loading needles but only when the colors are very obvious so I can't confuse them. The Pako organizer feels a bit expensive to me for what it is, especially when I consider that the foam the use won't hold up over time and has to be replaced :( . I've been thinking of some creative alternatives (read cheaper lol) that I could make myself to accomplish the same effect. Has anyone else taken a shot at this?

I use a foam rectangle and put a strip of masking tape in the middle, running the long way. I write down the symbol and number on the tape and put my threaded needle next to the appropriate spot..........But Alas,I caved and ordered a Pako organiser this morning. The problem with foam is that you have to be very gentle with it, as it will "smush" when picking it up. Its not very transportable (is that a word?) and I have lost needles in the foam and had to get them out with my nails and or tweezers. I kept the foam in the plastic it came in thinking that would make it easier but it doesnt. The foam was around $5.00 and I just bought the Pako organiser for $16.34. So thats not much of a price difference to me so it was worth it. I cant wait for mine to come in the mail!!

Hope this helps!

I couldn't stitch without my pako organisers and I'm not sure how anyone would have the patience not use one. I have 2 needle organisers and 2 thread organisers that I use on my current HAED. The make stitching so much quicker. I LOVE them

I usually buy my scroll frames from Sew and So. The one in the photo isn't the longest I have, I think the angle of the photo makes it look longer. The longest I have is 36" from http://www.artsanddesigns.com/cgi-bin/m ... g%20Frames, because Sew and So didn't go that wide. Arts and Designs go up to 39" I think.

the lady that owns the local Needleworks shop here uses Styrofoam instead of these! If you have stuff like that laying around it works perfectly!
