HAED stitchers
Does anyone stitch their HAEDs in hand or are they just too big? I normally stitch in hand but am wondering if I should go dig the QSnaps out of the closet...

Re: HAED stitchers
I am stitching my Wrath HAED in hand. I just roll it up the part I am not working on and it makes it easy to handle. I can't get on with frames or hoops.

Re: HAED stitchers
I stitched in hand while I was experimenting with stitching in my gridding, but I couldn't imagine doing it for the actual project. Just in the time I was doing it the hand holding the fabric became very sore and I was constantly having to readjust my grip. I couldn't get along without my Q Snaps.

Re: HAED stitchers
Well although I have my HAED, I haven't started it yet. But I think that when I start mine I will use my scroll frame that I have and see how that goes, because it's quite big. The biggest I've attempted.
There is another tip though that I have that I have used for big projects. I haven't used frames yet, so if you are unfamiliar or don't care to use the frames. Whether it be scroll frames or q-snaps. What I have done, since I'm used to hoops, is that I put my work in my hoop about where I would like to start. Usually it's the middle. But then since you have all this excess fabric outside of the hoop, I take small safety pins, roll up the sides loosely, and use the safety pins to hold them. It works for me.

I stitch everything in hand using a hoop or q-snaps.

I stitch with a round hoop, but I'm only two pages in, so :p
Re: HAED stitchers
I'm stitching my HAED on a hoop. Can't imagine how I would cope without some kind of frame

Re: HAED stitchers
I just barely qualify to answer this question, I'm only about 250 stitches in to my first one - but I am using q snaps as well.
On my other really large project, very similar to HAED (full coverage, very large, lots of color changes and confetti) - I have a weird thing going on - I have it in a rolling frame, but only one side - then I use a hoop for the portion I'm working on, and roll it back up when I'm done. I'm going to be switching to the q snaps soon though, just need to get another set of qsnaps!

Re: HAED stitchers
I always use a snap frame - I'm concerned about the tension being uneven if I work in hand. I only work in hand if I'm stitching on Aida as it's a stiffer fabric and holds its shape better without a frame.

Re: HAED stitchers
Well, I decided to go with my Q Snaps... I did the first color in hand and I was having trouble with the "off" stitch sliding under the fabric threads when I used the sewing method of stitching. It was better when I used the poke and pull method but then there was really no advantage ti stitching in hand, lol. I have to say that the stitches I put in after switching to the QSnaps looked much nicer...

I am stitching with Q-snaps since my HAED material is very large!
