My first SAL- Give Thanks

Post by shana »

This is my second cross stitch project ever- its named "Give Thanks" and is a kit by Janlynn. I've been stitching it for about a week and half now, it is on 14 count black Aida. I worked it from the middle out and am doing one color at a time. I started out using a spring hoop which came with the kit and was much too small, then I switched to a scroll which I did not like at all (hard to get the fabric taught enough!) and am now using a very big screw hoop which is great.
As this is my second project and I am very much a beginner I would be interested to hear any comments/constructive criticisms! Perhaps I will post a picture of the back of the work- I'm not sure if its normal messy or too messy lol

It looks beautiful! You've really done a great job so far.

I'd love to see your back. I've got a bit of a fascination with them, but I wouldn't worry too much, once the piece is framed no one will see it and so long as there aren't any huge knots it won't affect how it sits in the frame either. ^_^

What a beautiful design and you are doing really well, especially stitching on black, something I would never attempt at all.

Great work.

Gorgeous work. I love how black fabric makes somay pattern so nice and bright!!!!! :applesauce:

As long as the back does not have a big tangled knot on it I don't over worry about mine. I try to keep it a bit controled but as it is not intended to be seen and I have never had a present returned because the reciever did not like the back I will just say do the best you can with yours and don't over worry. :D

I like the design so much. Congratulations on doing it on black Aida, as I've always read that it is hard to stitch on black fabric. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

I don't like stitching on black, but it does look good once it's done as the colours pop so well. Yours is looking lovely :)
