I'm having good luck so far (hope this doesn't jinx it!) with four!
It's definitely true about jays vs. blue jays. I'm definitely a bird watcher, in fact I hope to specialize in birds as I progress through my biology/zoology degrees! In the US there are several jay species, and only one called a 'blue jay' even though many jay species are blue.
