Crossstitchforum - A FREE forum for Cross Stitchers

I was just as excited to win for the prize as for being able to host a bingo! I will be doing a Firefly-themed bingo, with information, memorable lines, and other fun stuff with each name or term drawn. During the signup phase, I'll poke around for any cross stitch patterns (I know there's one or two out there that are legitimate).

My list has just been sent in. I am a HUGE Firefly/Serenity fan and have them all on DVD so whenever I get the urge to hear people swearing in Chinese I can pop them in the player. Oh, and seeing Nathan Fillion in leathers with a gun in his holster is a bonus too.

PM sent. I loved this show when it was on the air and then got reallllllllllly bummed when they took it off. Thought the movie was a good way to wrap up the storyline. However, I think there were more stories to be had myself .

I never heard about firefly/serenity, but it seems like my boyfriend has. So I will do some research before I will chose my numbers, so I will take a few more days, but I will surely take part in this game

It sounds like most who are playing know about Firefly, so I'll keep the intro short: A favourite show among many sci-fi fans, it encompasses humor, drama, realism (really!) and sci-fi with a western flair. It was cancelled during its first season due to what many feel are really lame reasons (myself included), and the fans that support it have rallied on multiple occasions to achieve goals like helping to increase dvd sales by crazy marketing tactics so the profits helped to get the movie 'Serenity' made.

I will do my best to give information without too much spoiling!

Blue Sun is the equivalent to a massive corporation. The name and logo is seen all over, well, everything, from cargo containers to food items. The logo consists of the name Blue Sun in English and Chinese, blue on white or vice versa.

The Fruity Oaty Bar commercial in the movie 'Serenity' is what triggers River Tam's brain into overdrive, and the crew of Serenity witness her full power.

Malcolm Reynolds, played by Nathan Fillion, is the captain of the Firefly class ship named Serenity. He once served as a ranking officer in fight against the Alliance and proudly considers himself a Browncoat, still. Even though many of the deeds he leads his crew to perform are shadowy in nature, he has a notable sense of honor and treats his crew like a family.

Here are today's picks:

Wash is the pilot on Serenity. He often proclaims he flies like 'a leaf on the wind', plays with plastic dinosaurs when he's bored, and occasionally experiences a bit of conflict with Mal, concerning his wife Zoe. My favourite line by Wash was said to Kaylee, who suffers from a slight case of sexual frustration. When Kaylee asks him if she's pretty, he replies, "Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion."

Hands of Blue refers to River Tam's past. With her brother's help, she escaped from the grasp of the Alliance, who were trying to make her into a super being. They aren't too happy about that, and lots of scary types are looking for her. "Hands of blue, two by two," is something River says, with great fear.

The port compression coil 'is a nothin' part until it's broke.' In my favourite episode, 'Out of Gas', an on-board accident causes this part to fail. Kaylee, the ship's genius mechanic, is unable to fix it. The episode is my favourite for its profound message... and the ending makes me cry.
