Feed My Sheep update 2/14/19

This is a kit I bought a couple of years ago to do for DD's first communion. I have a year and a half before this will happen, so hopefully that will be enough time with all of my other projects. I'm only working on this when the kids aren't home or are asleep. Unfortunately it is a discontinued kit, so Bucilla wouldn't send the threads that were not in the kit (about 10 colors)
I went through today and pulled the colors from my stash and had a couple of hours to work on this before they got home from school.
It is on 28 count tan/mushroom colored evenweave because there are a lot of quarter and 3/4 stitches. Here's what it will look like:
Here's where I am after 2 hours today. You can already see where the face will be.

You have made a great start on a really special piece and am sure it will be treasured by your daughter? (assuming DD is dear daughter?) sorry the company wouldn't send you the threads, I commented on another thread that for those of us who hoard stash it really pays to open them and check them upon purchase even if after they get put away for a bit/years
looking forward to seeing this progress and i know how hard it is sewing in secret when the person does not even live with you so good luck

wonderful start and you are so smart to do this early. I had a friend years ago who wanted something for her daughter's first communion and asked about a month in advance. She got a little angel because that was all the time there was. Yours is going to be beautiful.

All of you are saying the same things I thought when I first saw this. As some of you may remember, I stitched an eagle with a verse from Isaiah for DS when he made his first communion in May 2011. I knew I would need something for DD when she makes hers. The little girl reminds me so much of her that I knew this would be perfect. I can't wait to see this one grow! I might just have to move over to do the face/head since it is already emerging before doing the background.

We've had several cloudy days which has made it harder to work on the black fabric, and there's been a day or two that I've been too tired to work on the black so I've spent a couple of days on this one. I've reached the top border. It worried me that there is so much fabric at the top since it's a kit, so I double counted the bottom to make sure there was enough room last night. There is a little more of the girl's hair done, but it is rolled up.

Since you have to only work on so many things when the person it is for isn't around or isn't awake I think you are doing an amazing job of making the progress that you do. This is going to be so pretty when it is done. Your daughter will love it.
