Scotland Map *Finished!!!!!!!!*

Post by YoungStitcher »

I wanted to do a Scottish scenery picture for my Dad who now lives in America.
The local shop didn't have the one I wanted, but I got this one instead. I've never done Evenweave before, but I'm going to have a go! :D

What a great project for you to do! Stitching on evenweave is easy once you get used to it - TBH with the look of all that back stitching on your project using evenweave will probably make your life a lot easier!

:applesauce: That is a lovely map and I think will be beautiful when stitched. I think you are going to be fine. I stitched on evenweave for years (the 18 ct afghan fabric) thinking it was aida because it was 18 ct. I knew even less then about fabrics than I do now. I find the smaller counts the challenge. It is all one stitch at a time. I am looking forward to watching this one progress. I know your Dad will love it.

That's fantastic! Don't forget to add where you live when you stitch!! :D

Evenweave's a doddle...just takes a bit more care when you start.
Why not try a practice piece first?

That will be a great present for your Dad!

Don't you fret about the evenweave. I used evenweave for the first time about 3 years ago for a kit I got. I got into a slump and didn't stitch anything for a while. I've recently got my stitchy bug back, and in a real bad way. Well, not bad bad... but I've been doing tons of stitching lately. Anywho, I rediscovered evenweave from this forum, and I love working with it. :)

I tried evenweave last sunday I did full stitch with two strands on 25 count 'over one' and was very dissapointed it looked bulky not good :( ...but I picked it up today and tried tent stitch with two strands much better and looks good :) I think its lovely material to work with you've just got to find what suits you good luck :)

That looks like it's going to be a beautiful map when you've stitched it.

I did my first project with evenweave about six years ago and never went back. It takes a little getting used to, but I find it much nicer to work on than aida.

I've started the top left corner of the Tartan border and a little of the shield. Seems easy enough, but to get the hang of it i'll need to do all the half stitches in the one session so I don't restart and miss parts.

Piccies tomorrow :D

:applesauce: Great project that I'm sure your dad will love.

As for evenweave: you'll love once you get used to it and may find your prefer it to aida. I did my first project on it recently and must admit that I am now a convert. Half stitches and fractionals are sooo much easier! Plus it means you can now add even more lovely fabric choices to your stash: jobelan, lugana, linens.

Nice project! I love maps, though I've never stitched one. Evenweave is nice to work with - not quite as easy as aida at first, but it gets easy very quickly. :D
