Since I rotate my WIPs every Friday, I thought it would make more sense to put them under one topic.

I've been collecting the Cottage of the Months patterns, and finally started one - April.

Here's what mine looks like so far:



I used Cashel linen 28 ct fabric from Picture this Plus in Zephyr. It's the color of the birds in the original design, so I changed the color of the birds to royal blue DMC 797.

I also changed the pink and some of the dark brown to other colors, and turned the tree into a Carrot Tree.

P.S. I know I'm not supposed to be stitching to give my right thumb time to heal, but I'd go crazy if I didn't stitch. My compromise has been to stitch less than normal. Not sure if that's doing my thumb any good, and DH gives me looks, but it's the best I can do.

very pretty. Are you planning to do all the months. After your thumb heels of course. I do understand not being able to not stitch ( does that make sense?) but hope you are taking lots of breaks and not stitching if it starts to,hurt a lot. I hope it gets better soon.

Yes, I plan on stitching all of the cottages. I've admired your work on them, and got the idea for removing the pink color from your last cottage (I think it was May?). I plan on using a different color of hand-dyed fabric for each one.

Thank you for reminding me to take breaks; I'm bad at that. That would help me heal faster. I am stopping if it starts to hurt.

Thank you for complimenting me on the cottages, but it is the "other" Carole. It's confusing I know, but her forum name is Carole and I sign my name that way. And I agree her cottages are lovely and if I wasn't up to my neck in projects I could be tempted. They would make a great afghan!

It's looking great!!! Poor thumb... does it really bother you when you stitch? I know how you feel.. Often my shoulder really aches at night, and stitching never helps.. but I can't seem to stop myself
