I got one :chicken: today and now have a grand total of 6. I love that Frizian's coloring. I would love to see it in the other colors. So vibrant.

Day eight and still no winner
13..Houdan
Image
Originating in France, the breed was first exported to Britain in 1850 and North America in 1865. The bird has several striking features among which are it's striking crest and having five toes instead of the usual four. With two colour variations ( white or Mottled) they are primarily show birds but are also good layers and produce good meat.

20..Old English Pheasent Fowl
Image

This rare breed originates in England. Despite it's name, it is no relation to the game bird but is so called for it's close resemblance. Mahogany hued with a darker edged lacing they have a rose comb and white earlobes. Although good for both meat and eggs, they do better as free range birds. However because of their rarity, in 2008 they were placed on the endangered species list by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

one more :chicken: makes chickenchickenchickenchickenchicken! I'm 1/2 way there.
The Old English Pheasant Fowl. What a shame it is on the endangered species list. The hens need to get busy laying eggs that no one eats! Its a pretty bird and my pick.

We have several runners nearing the finishing line, who is going to get there
first :)

Two more today, first is

9... Faverolles
Image
Called for the village in France where they first originated. Originally bred for both meat and eggs, they are now primarily a show breed. Like the Houdan breed, these birds have five toes as well as a beard, muff and feathered feet. The most common colour is salmon. Because of their calm gentle nature this breed makes an excellent pet, especially for children

26...Silkie
Image
Originating in China the breed is so called for its fluffy plumage which feels silky. Colours are red, gold, black, white and partridge. The hens are exceptionally broody so make very good mothers, but are also commonly used to hatch eggs from other breeds. This breed, like the Faverolles makes an excellent pet.

Ooooh, sorry I missed signing up for this one, life just kind of got in the way. Just finished reading thru everything & it is soooo interesting. So far, my favorite is the Cochin - love those leg feathers! Good luck everyone!
