Textile Art Bingo

Post by agi »

Hello, here is the new bingo game. I chose different types of Textile Art. Please, choose ten of these and PM me your list.

The plan is, as I am posting 3 of the words every day, I am going to post some interesting Internet links with them - and I invite you to the same if a word comes up that is of some interest to you. We are going to start a thread for this in the General section. If you have tried out any of these techniques, you can post pictures, too. Although this is not about cross-stitch, I am sure it will be fun!

cutwork
bargello
pattern darning
ribbon embroidery
weaving
lace making
knitting
crochet
pleating
sewing
felting
macramé
batik
dyeing
tapestry
patchwork
quilting
beading
doll making
flocking
fashion design
hand spinning
3D textile art
theatre costume design
yarn painting
yarn balls
appliqué
quillwork
smocking
triangle point
tatting
lucet
butterfly-loom technique
tassel making
collage

(Please, do not try to find any logical mistakes in the list, e.g. batik is a type of dyeing etc, I know, I just tried to find as many different techniques as possible without "classifying" them. Cross stitch is not included on purpose, because everybody would choose it. :D )

Exciting -- how does this work? (Sorry, haven't quite unravelled the mysteries of forum bingo yet).

Do we have to choose ten that we did ourselves? I'm afraid I'm not that versatile! Or just ten that we would like to do? Or the ten we think you are most likely to have done or to want to do?

Help!

Just choose any ten - whichever you want. Send me in a PM. Then when we have enough players, I will start picking them out of a hat, three every day, and post them on the forum. If you have all of your ten posted, send me a PM again with BINGO - whoever sends it FIRST is the winner!

A question - since this is my first time - how many players do we need for it to be worth a game?

Agi,
I think we have had as few as four playing - obviously it is better with more. The Dude managed to round up 11 (I think) after the hard-sell approach
It might be an idea to give a date when you are closing for entrants.

Mabel,
rules and how to play in a sticky at the top of this forum

Thanks Mags, I noticed it just now when I 'entered' the forum in a different way.

I shall go away and read it *hangs head in shame*

All right, so here it goes!

First day:

sewing
crochet
tassel making

After you have crossed them on your list, please, take a look in the General section at the links I found for you. With more common types of art, like crochet, I didn't include the "how to" sites, only some of the rarer, more interesting, sometimes extreme ones are here. With less well known types (at least for me :) ) there are good sites where you can learn the techniques, too.

Please feel free to add your own links, pictures, experiences!
Thank you.
