Starry Starry Night (HAED) -- Updated 03/10/2014

Post by subdereality »

Hi everyone!!

I'm new on this forum, and I would love to share photos of my latest project -- Van Gogh's Starry Starry Night with everyone here. This is my first project from HAED, and it is very confetti-heavy. However, it's amazing to see how well the colours blend and to see the famous swirls emerging...

I love stitching this project (other than the fact that I'm a big fan of Van Gogh's works...)

Starry Starry Night is stitched on 22-count antique white Hardanger, 2 over 1.

25th of July 2014 -- YESSSSSSSSSS! More swirls visible.
Image

4th of July 2014 -- Finally, made some noticeable progress!
Image

20th of May 2014 -- Still plodding on. Would probably take me 10 years to complete this project.
Image

24th of March 2013 -- It's hard work!!
Image

10th of March 2013 -- Woohoo! I can see more of the swirls now! Impressionist art!
Image

24th of February 2013 -- It's a confetti landmine. *_* Anyhow, my way of cross-country stitching according to the swirls is working out great!

:applesauce: Great start on a lovely piece! I love that the swirls are appearing already. One thing I love about and am always surprised about is when an object, a face etc appear all of a sudden out of what often seems like ridiculous colors to be stitching together. Makes these charts fun to stitch for me. Looking forward to your next update!

Thanks for the kind comments! I'm still quite nervous about this piece because it's Impressionist art, and I wasn't sure how the swirls were going to turn out. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised when the colours blended in very well.

I've also decided that parking isn't going to work for me, so I've cross-country stitched according to the swirl patterns! It's going well so far!

Oh! I remember you from the SAL group in the HAED BB. I was working on this piece myself but after 2 pages I decided I don't like the coverage and bulk in the back and felt so overwhelmed I've put it away until I figure out what to do with it.

It'll be great to follow your progress here and at the HAED BB. :D

Re: Laura -- Did you stitch on 25 count? I'm struggling even with 22-count, and I can imagine how bulky it could get. The colour changes are very intensive, and starting and stopping so many times within a 10x10 box can get frustrating.

I hope I will finish this piece at some point in the future... LOL. :king:

Re: Maemae -- I was hunting for Starry Starry Night designs, and I finally narrowed it down to the HAED & Scarlett Quince patterns because they are very complicated charts. If it's not complicated, it's no challenge. I decided to go for the HAED version because the pattern is delivered electronically, whereas I didn't want to pay an arm & a leg for the Scarlett Quince pattern postage.

Anyhow, glad to see that Impressionist art is well and alive amongst stitching circles!!

I did. I was tenting it on 25ct 2x1. My other HAED is also 25 ct 2x1 tent stitches but it's less confetti heavy so the back isn't nearly as bulky as SSN was becoming.
