Baby mania....Famous last words?

Post by Fizzbw »

Hi all,

I've been bad and not updated for a while, but I have been very busy.since Christmas I got half a page done on the Carosuel dancer but then came the baby mania. Two good friends have had babies and my sister has finally adopted a wonderful little 3 yo boy.

As he is big into tractors and animals I stitched this for him, one is his brith date, the other is his gotcha date! There is a big crease down the middle that doesn't look anywhere near as bad in RL!!!

Image

Then I start this one which is a Historical Sampler Company design, the area where the flowers are is supposed to be stitched in blue for the background but I decided it would be quicker to use this lovely piece of 32 count linen I had. It's a more intense blue than in this picture.

Image

Trouble is, I'm hating stitching it!!! I've not touched it for well over a month but have to get it done. Any suggestions??

Then I have decided to do something a little different for my other friend, and chose this lovely Pollyana Pickering design by DMC of a tiger licking her cub. I'm going to fit in date and name around it somehow. It's stitching up quickly and fun, even on the black aida.

Image

And finally I decided to stitch a massive height chart that in two issues of Cross Stitch Gold. It's huge but easy and fun to stitch. Luckily I found a huge piece of 28 count evenweave in my stash, in fact I could have done two of these it was so big! It's lovely to stitch on but boy is it a hair magnet!!!!

Image

I've done about a third of it now, bar the backstitch. I'm going to use tiny seed beads in place of the odd French knot. Oh and I'm going to stitch his name onto one of those self covering buttons to use as a marker, and then get some iron on name tags my sister can write the age and date on and iron onto the side of the height chart to show how he has grown (and any other kids in the future) it will be madeup as a wall hanging.

So been busy!!!

Hugs

Love your projects! I love the height chart and the characters on the design! I thought about making one up but by the time I figured I would finish it, the kids would already be grown up.

:applesauce: :applesauce: What beautiful projects you have been working on. I love the animal train with your nephew's name and the important dates. The height chart is adorable. I like the other sampler but maybe it's just not as much fun as the others right now so isn't keeping your interest as much.

What great samplers the tiger idea is excellent and something just a bit different. The height chart is super cute!!!!!!! :applesauce: :applesauce:

As for the one that you are struggling with can you bribe yourself??? Can you work 2 days on the one you don't care for and then give yourself 4 days on the fun stuff but only if you really work hard on the unfriendly piece?????? :thinks:

Lessa, it's a Kit as I couldn't find it as chart only.

Not recommending this site necessarily, it just was the first up on the google search.

The rose border piece is really lovely - I agree with Rose & others, just break it (the stitching  ) into small times or areas, and it will get done in no time!

Such a cute growth chart, too. Maybe a dumb question though, was it charted for 28 count? Just asking, as it would be a shame if the inch marks weren't really correct! Looking forward to more updates. :applesauce:
