Joan Elliot's Victorian Lady Finished!!!!

Post by Fizzbw »

Image

I've been dying to stitch this since I saw it, the colourway is delightful! Now of course I'm dying to do the flapper lady as well! This is an out of rotation present to myself for having only done things for others this year so far (not counting my Pixel people....)

I also was dying to stitch on this fabric I had, called Baroque. The Victorian lady fits on exactly half of it, so maybe, just maybe the flapper will look good on it as well...

Here it is, of course the photo always doesn't really reflect the beauty of it. It has more depth and colour than this. I can't tell you how much I love it, thinking of buying it again!

And my progress, started the night before last.

I rather like this pattern. I'm going to follow you along with this one. I'd like to see the flapper, too.
Great start! :applesauce:

She's lovely and elegant. I bet she'll be a delight to stitch. The Flapper sounds gorgeous too.

Love that fabric. Who is it by? It looks just what I've been after for another project but it's so hard to buy online as sometimes they arrive and they're much, much brighter.

They are pretty colours aren't they!

The fabric is from Picture This Plus, called Baroque. Mine is 28 count Laguna. I get it via Cross Stitch Heaven, it's dyed to order so can take a while to arrive, like 5 weeks, but I don't mind as I don't have to worry about import tax!!

The colours look a bit darker online as its pictured on the linen. I discovered it when I bought a sample pack from Cross stitch heaven and ordered it after seeing that. It might be worth asking PTP if they have a sample swatch, or I can post you one?

Update! The first half stitching done :)

Image

I tend to leave the backstitch and beading to last then the project sort of fits into neat quarters! I'm wondering what to do with her, I don't think I can afford to frame her right now, so am wondering if I can make her into a hanging or on mount board with ribbon which means I can display her straight away, and leaves the option to frame in the future.

Oh anyone got the bookazine of Joans designs? The Ulitmate collection? I saw on just go on eBay for £49!!!! I'm still not willing to sell mine though! I still have the autumn etc fairies to do....
