DMC New threads coming out!!!

I apologize if this has been brought up before. I just noticed on DMC's website that they are releasing 16 new colors! They come out in October!!!
And just after I completely reorganized my stitch bows

I do recall seeing something I'm sure but I had forgotten until I read your post. I've just looked at the link. Looking forward to seeing the colours in more detail. Will you need to reorganise much when you get the new colours?

I was at my Michaels today and noticed the new colours (4000 series)
they are lovely colours but very expensive. I was just on the DMC site
and it says the floss should retail for 1.35
It was there for $2.99!! YIKES!!!
I guess I'll get a couple at a time instead of all at once.

Yep. And called my hobby store when it 1st came out about it, and told them to put back a package, IF they weren't sold individually, and set aside each color IF they were sold individually, and I would pick them up in Nov. when I come and get my supplies to finish this years and next years projects.
Didn't know what the no. combination was, but that's ok. Always keep my thread collection up to date. So far have "all" of DMC thread collection.

I have all of the colours too, so I "need" to get them to keep the collection complete... plus I am guessing that new designs will include these colours.

Does it sound like I am trying to justify spending more money on my stash??

Sounds very reasonable to me. I think I'll be hitting Hobby Lobby early next week. Wouldn't want to have my complete collection incomplete. I have enough trouble with charts and WIPs hollering for attention. Couldn't take it if my bobbin boxes felt neglected, could I?

Wal-Mart sells floss for 30 cents a skein. Why does this new floss sell for $3 a skein???
Is there gold in it or something?

Or am I just missing the whole point?

I think some posters are talking at cross purposes here - as Faith mentioned in her original post DMC are releasing 16 new solid colours to their range in October, so they aren't in the shops yet! The threads that Donna is taking about are in the 4000 series which is DMCs variations thread not solid colours - though why Micheals appears to be selling these above the rrp is beyond me, you could buy lovely cotton hand dyeds for less than that a skein and I know which I'd rather have!

Donna 1911 is also in Canada.
So that may have something to do about it.
Those in Europe pay waaaay more for DMC than we do.. $1 per skein and up. Maybe its higher in Canada as well.
Why?? Who knows, but I have to think large volume contracts with the big craft stores is a large part of it.
As far as the notice looks.. I thought they would be sold in a thread pack, with a couple designs. It didn't say anything about when they would be available individually. Probably whenever they can adjust their floss displays.

I didn't realize there were new colours and variations!! (just means more I need to buy) I probably should have as the news release did say they were coming out in October.
Yes the pricing is higher for me being in Canada, and I guess if you are the only store selling them, you can set your own price. Our Wal-Mart only sells Anchor floss, and I'm a DMC girl.
We do have a Target opening here soon (I think in December), so maybe they will have a craft section.

Micheals has 50% off coupons this week, so hopefully they have a floss pack of the variations. I never noticed when I was there last week.

Yes, we will update the chart and color cards, but it may be a while since the colors are not going to be available individually for a while. They will make their debut as a boxed set.

So, which families these fit into?? who knows

I saw that you can reserve a box for $10 at 123stitch. They will email you to confirm the order when the box becomes available. .60 a skein is more than Walmart (if they would have it and at my walmart that is doubtful) or the craft stores, but since DMC isn't selling the skeins separately yet, that might be their price. Like Maggie says, can't tell the numbers or families until we really see the skeins.

On doing some research, this is what I came up with as far as the numbers for the new floss coming out in October.


Color numbers are 3880, 3881, 3882, 3883, 3884, 3885, 3886, 3888, 3889, 3890, 3891, 3892, 3893, 3894, and 3895

SewandSo have confirmed that they will be stocking the new threads although they are still checking with DMC when they will be available to them. They'll be on the DMC page....

Does anyone know the price of the pack?
