well my lil' bro turned 30 today so I made him a poker cake.
he loves playing poker.
well i was short on supplies and time so I had to wing it.
didn't turn out half bad.
i'm sooo not good at cakes..but i try..lol

Image

i printed out and laminated the cards...taped to toothpicks.
the frosting is vanilla tinted green..that's what color the felt is on his poker table.
then i mixed melted chocolate in the vanilla frosting for the sides..then piped it around the edges. The poker chips were drawn on with icing..and the white lines around the chips are white sprinkles..lol

he loved it..of course i'm way to critical..lol..i stink at lettering..haha

we eat it tonight at my mom's after dinner..

What a great present CF -- it looks both convincing and delicious; wanna bet it'll be eaten down to the last crumb :-)?

I think is looks great. You want to talk about some one not good at cakes....well I would never show a picture that is for sure. My daughter is the baker and that is just as well :?

C-F, this is really touching, to go to so much trouble to make a perfect decoration for him! And I agree with Mags, there is no problem with your letters, they are just fine! You should be proud of yourself and say you have developed your own style!

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: I think it looks great. Your writing is very good. It's always interesting the ideas you can come up with to decorate cakes. You were very inventive with your ideas. I've used the laminated picture or card quite a few times. We cheated on our last poker cake and printed out edible images to put on so we didn't have to draw everything.
