Forever friends

Post by Angel »

Ok, so now my practice piece is out of the way, I can eventually begin work on my forever friends design ^_^ This doesn't need much introduction as by now I'm sure pretty much the entire forum knows about this, but here we go anyway.

I am doing this for my boyfriends mother as a birthday present as she loves forever friends. I've been with Jayms for three years now and I love his mum, she's such a wonderful lady, and I hope that she likes this. She has a couple of bits of cross stitch in the house which other people have given to her, yet I'm still nervous about making a gift for someone outside of my family. Never done that before.

I want to do it on linen because it's such a soft design, the softness of the linen is perfect...oh who am I kidding? There's a sack load of fractional stitches and I can't face them without 32 count material :P

The design is solely for Anchor threads, which was a little disappointing as I only own three anchor threads. My local hobby craft mainly sells DMC so that's what I use, bigger selection. So the converting took a while, but you guys helped out big style. Thank you.

Well anyway, her birthday isn't until Early October (Jayms doesn't remember the exact date), so that gives me a nice amount of time to do it slowly, not rush. Well this is what the design will hopefully look like:

Progress pictures will be coming soon.

Angel, what Anchor threads are you looking for? I use DMC generally, but have kits with Anchor which I've finished. If any of the colours match, you'd be doing me a favour by giving them a home.

I don't use Anchor, I've managed to convert them into DMC.

Okey dokey! :) I'll find a use for them, eventually. I'm resisting putting them onto bobbins and in their own box... not sure why. :thinks:

I hope you find a use for them. I'm sure someone on here collects anchor and will gladly relieve you of them.

So who wants to play the game "Spot the bit I've done"?

Hehe here's my progress piccy for the night. I know I should probably have waited to post this topic until I had a piccy...but... meh, I was just so excited to finally start it I had to let y'all know.

I lent my sister a few threads for a mini horse project...she was supposed to have returned them by Tuesday. So I've not had them on hand otherwise I'd have done a fair bit more by now. Like, pretty much the whole icing on the top of the cake, but... What are little sisters like?

This is going to be lovely Angel! You've made a great start on it. I'm sure she will be so thrilled with it and especially that you have cared enough to give her such a personal gift.

I'm looking forward to seeing this grow ... that cake looks yummy!!!

Isn't it just the perfect birthday design, especially as she's a qualified chef?

I love this design so much, I'm going to have such fun making it for her.

It's such a charming design Angel, I'm sure she'll love it, and the softness of the linen does go with it very well!

Fancy starting on the cake -- I wonder why :-)? :cake: :cake: :cake:
