Ha ha! You guys make me laff!!!

Mines slightly bigger (and not talking bout my belly :D ) so I guess we are on a parr!!

I think 20 years is a fair timescale, don't you?! :D

Actually I take my hat off to you because I think yours is more trying than mine - you have soooo much background which I think would get to me after a while!

Can't wait to see more updates, don't keep us in suspense too much longer!

So Susan, how is the HOED coming? Just checking in to make sure someone besides me is fighting tiny stitches and lots of colors. I'm going to pop over to Nic's HAED too. I need the support! Any new pictures to keep me going?

Carolyn I hadn't realised you had started one too - well done, I'm about to go and find it on your SAL. I've finished the second column on the first page now, but haven't posted a pic as it looks just the same as the first column! I decided to take a little break this week and am back working on the Orchids again - hopefully I'll finish that this weekend. For me, I think I'll be doing a bit of HAED then a bit of something else all the time. I find it's very intense stitching and I don't think I could keep it up for long on it's own. Although certainly having everyone here encouraging you along helps tremendously.

Susan, mine is not a HAED, but rather a Cross Stitch Collectibles (I think), but it has 28 pages and all stitches are filled. I'm hoping that at some point on the page I'm on there will be a spot of continuous color just to keep my spirits up. Actually, other than the distractions today (hubby) I've been working alot better than yesterday. I didn't get much farther but I'm not worrying about the progress. Yesterday I was was having chest pains trying to figure how long this one will take at the speed it's going now. I'm pretty used to being able to set an amount of time I think it will take and getting on with it. But no chart I've ever worked with had so many pages and so many color changes. I had to reprogram my thinking. So, now I'm just going to be content with whatever I get done for the day. The other is too much stress!

This is definitely the way to go. I did try to work out how long it would take me, but that was just depressing so now I'm just going to enjoy it and well, someday it might be done.

This is going to look wonderful, I love the HAED Im not brave enough to try one yet but i've decided on a chart for the future! I agree that you should look at what you have done and not what is left to be done, by the sounds of things just 10x10 stitches is an achievement so well done you :applesauce:

Susan - I think breaking up the project is a good idea so you won't get burnt out on it or stitching in general! I know several people who've put their CS away indefinitely because it's such a detailed, intense pattern!

Still cheering you on! :D

Not much progress to show I'm afraid, but I have been finishing off something else so haven't spent much time on it this week. As you can see - it's background, background and more background ...

Hi Angela, I've posted a picture further back in this thread somewhere so you'll be able to see what it'll look like some time in the distant future :)

The finished piece measures 19 x 14.5 inches and uses 90 colours and roughly 30 of them are shades of blue. Is Winter's Lace the one with the wolves in the snow? That's a fabulous project and I'm sure your sister will love it as a present. Must see if I've missed it on the SAL thread - and if it's not there - well, you know what to do

It looks so little progress for you now...but to try one with 90 colors WOW! it's simply amazing! I will certainly keep track of this...

Happy stitching! :)
