It may be 'just' background, but it's very complicated and subtle background and it's great progress! (Very beautiful too, in an abstract sort of way!)

Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments - I'm determined to get the first page finished by the weekend and then you'll see lots of emmm... background :D

Finally picked up my HAED again last week after leaving it for ages. I've been quite enjoying it - but it's still just background :(

and this shows how much I've still got to go ...

I reckon I'm on target to finish in about 15 years!!!!

Yep, I agree with Bert. I'd think of it in terms of squares or blocks and count how many are done, rather than looking at the empty ones. I think you'll find it builkds up quicker in that way.
Looking great by the way.

I've taken your advice everyone and wrapped up the 'empty' fabric. I've folded and pinned it at the top and bottom so now I can just concentrate on what I'm doing rather than what I've still got left!

Good for you! I'm sure now that when you look every now and then at what you've actually done, you'll be surprised at how much your achieving! :applesauce: :applesauce:

Well, I'm glad this thread came to the top for me to see it! It's a really lovely design, and you must have huge patience to take it on! I thought Teresa Wentzler was complex but compared to your HAED, TW is work for an amateur! Well done! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

You have done a wonderful job and so much beautiful stitching. Be proud of the work you have completed because there are those of us that admire you taking on such a project and being willing to share with us.

You're getting on great with this one!!! :applesauce: :applesauce:

Just look at each page/half page as a HUGE achievement rather than the whole project (that's what I do, or I think I would definitely give up!)

You made a fantastic start - can't wait till you get on to the angel/fairy! Will look stunning. Well done

Oh no ... :ribbit: :ribbit: :ribbit: :ribbit: :ribbit: realised just before going to bed last night that I had been using the wrong shade of blue for the last hour. It is sooo difficult to frog with this project - I am not looking forward to it this morning at all

Your progress looks brilliant. Does it really matter that it's the wrong blue, will it show in the end?

My opinion too! Unless it will be really noticable in the finished pic, I'd just let it ride. After all, who's going to know but you?

Done it - it took hours but I'm back to where I should have been last night :P

I did think of just leaving it - and already have done so for the odd stitch here and there that's gone wrong  - but it's so difficult with this to see how the design is shaping up that I didn't want to take a chance with a larger area. Anyway, done now and if you know who comes back, he'll be getting the :poke:
