My next stitch project. Not eveyones flavor by any means

Post by Leroy_B »

My 14 count black aida cloth arrived yesterday and the kit is complete for my next stitch work I computer generated. This is by no means anyone's flavor of work to do but I would cause I love pin-ups and wanted to stitch a warrior of some kind and she fits it both. To me she's beautiful, dangerous, dark, bold and on black background with some outstanding colors. (What can I say, I'm a rugged guy that works with his hands and I love art) She and the monster she has slain is 25.21Hx20W, stitch count 353Hx280W, 15 pages and 49 floss colors and a few other colors I'm adding to put in my own touch. I plan to grid the cloth after centered, and practice parking my thread since floss colors are spaced. I'll carefully prepare before I put a thread to needle. I also have it sized to 18 count. It's my 4th in a row of black cloth. Next step is to plan the frame and decorative engrave/sandblast the glass to protect the work while in the wood shop but not till it's near completion then to know the frame and engraving to put to it.

Oh, this will be a fun one to watch. She's an unusual pin-up and I bet she'll be gorgeous all cross stitched up.

Thanks for the positive reaction. I was expecting "you knuckle dragging neanderthal"....lol. It's going to take time since at the same time I'm renovating 2 rooms, a second family room which is a 3 season room and the mancave which was a 4th bedroom in the basement soon to be my hobby room. Which is where I'll be unloading the wood from my truck after a visit to the local sawmill. More fun stuff ahead.

I don't know, Leroy...you might need some hobbies to keep yourself busy. :-)

I love Royo's warrior women. I used them as avatars a few times in D&D-type RPing. (yes, I'm a geek.) That's going to be gorgeous.

Wow! She is going to be amazing, I look forward to seeing what you do with the bling as well!

I'm another who can't cope with the DMC metallics, even with thread heaven, if you have any tips? As I have some in my stash yet used....

As for the design, we love all types here, and especially appreciate a bloke loving cross stitch ;)

Love the design and I do look forward to seeing your progress on it!! As for DMC metallics---the best of luck with them---I despise them and refuse to use them. I normally find a conversion chart and use either kreinik or rainbow gallery petite treasures

I am with you on this Karen. Although I do have some DMC because I bought it before I knew how bad it was and I can not find the heart to throw away the thread. If anyone wants it let me know I will pass it along thankfully. I LOVE Rainbow PT and I am also a true fan of Kreinik.

This is going to be a spectaular piece when finished! True, she may not be of everyone's taste here but I think all of us can appreciate the skill and time and effort that goes into creating a work of art!
