What is happening?
Here is my stash from my visit to Sewing for Pleasure but as posted in another thread by Serinde it was disappointing for us cross stitchers. Only one stall selling fabric and approx four cross stitch stalls a lot less than previous. Would this be the same in other countries or is it just us Brits? Thankfully I get daily inspiration from my stitchy friends on the forum

Re: What is happening?
Gosh, it never used to be like that - there were always so many cross stitch related stalls I had a hard time choosing what to buy! Nice purchases though.

Re: What is happening?
What a shame. I've never been to a stitchy show and would like to but any visit would be a major effort for me and is be devastated if I went and there were only four stalls!!
Love your stash, some 3D decoupage stuff there, fun!!

Re: What is happening?
Cross stitch doesn't seem to have the mass appeal the other crafts do, it seems to be getting worse too. Michaels used to be great for supplies , now they are reduced to part of an aisle. That's why shopping on line is my only option now, I think there is only one LNS in my city and that is too far to get to by bus.
Last time I went to a needle work show was about 15 yrs ago and it was loaded with cross stitch stalls, now there are hardly any.

Re: What is happening?
Very few needle craft shows at all here there are yarn shows but that is mostly for knit/crochet yarns. Lots of quilting and scrapbooking but very little needle work that I have an interest in.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror
Re: What is happening?
It is the same here in the Netherlands. I was at one in February and it was also the last time for me. Shopping online it is!

Re: What is happening?
It's the same here in Canada too.
I've been to the "Creativ Festival" in Toronto a few times, and it's always the same. There are lots of crafts, but quilting really dominates the show. There were only a very few stalls for cross stitch.

Re: What is happening?
It's the same in Australia. My Mum says it's a phase. The fashionable crafts of the day swamp those that have fallen out of favour for the time being ... then a comeback is made and what was fashionable falls into the background.

Re: What is happening?
I think the era of cross stitch domination is over; it's not my only stitchy past time - I knit, quilt and do some other types of embroidery as well - but it is still what I turn to most readily. I went to Olympia in March and was quite disappointed in several respects. Very few cross stitch stalls and many of the specialist knitting yarn traders that I like were not there. I suspect I'll give the shows a miss for a while which is a shame as I've always enjoyed them in the past.
