Oh My!

This is gorgeous, so colourful, it looks so soft, just right for a little one.

Well Done indeed :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

You are certainly multi-talented in the craft department :D

Here is another quick-ish finish -- I started this at a local craft open day. Another cowl, this time slightly thinner (12 pegs) and longer (34 inches). Using Rico Creative melange big super chunky yarn (wool & acrylic) with the same grey acrylic warp I used in the purple cowl. It's very thick and warm!! I might need to made sure I have a longer warp if I do this again -- it could have done with being unbunched a bit more -- and I am only realising how short my neck is... no elegant swanning around for me! Perhaps only 10 pegs next time!

Oh It's lovely! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

You will really appreciate it when the weather turns as chilly as it does in Scotland. And your ears may be glad of the extra depth

Here's a little thing that started out as a way of sampling different possible weaving fibres and ended up, well, as a piece in its own right. Odd how that happened. I've called it sample seascape machair (obviously lots of 'thrift'!).

Isn't it lovely how it almost turns itself into a land/seascape!

I love that cowl and such a scrummy warm colour which alone makes it feel snuggly and warm.

What a neat idea to 'play around' with different ways of doing things and then keep it not only as a reminder but a lovely piece of art as well. Well Done Serinde. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

Sally, sampling in weaving is just like knitting up a swatch. It's to make sure that a fibre you've not used before behaves as you expect and to estimate how many passes (rows) make up an inch. A bit of arithmetic, and you can estimate how much fibre you'll need to do whatever you have in mind. It also allows you to experiment with the colours you have in mind for your piece. Museums these days love to have these samples as part of an exhibition because they can be displayed by the finished article for interest and also because people can handle them -- and keep their grubby mits off the exhibit! In this case, it kinda made up a little picture. (And I'll not be using that pink again, I can tell you! Texture is all well and good, but golly it was badly behaved!

It's looking fabulous Serinde and oh so colourful. I am sure the fingers will get used to the work and hurt less as time goes on - unless of course you go overboard and sit at it all day!!! :)

Here is another cowl that I'm weaving for one of my pals. It's weft is a King Cole Colour Riot chunky, in denim. The warp is Lion Brand medium weight in (can you tell?) electric blue! I'll have another pic for you tomorrow, as it weaves up really fast!

I've never tried weaving (except for a recent basket weaving class). Your work is beautiful.
