Re: HAED Leffet Papillon Pages 1st column done 10/5/15

It was the new start SAL over at the HAED BB and I hadn't had a new HAED for a year and what a wonderful excuse. This is a very different for me design and must be due to Charmagne and her butterflies or just lots of butterflies around, but I got this one in the last sale and really love it:

Laverne also likes it. She prefers to stand directly in front of the chart and give me dirty looks when I make her move:


No confetti yet, so its been easy going. I have finished page 1 and 6 and done a little bit of page 2 and 7 and am still working my way down. I plan to stitch this down instead of across very much. Page 11 has a lot more stitches though, so things will slow down some, but again until I get down to the butterflies there are mostly blocks of color. There is also no background to stitch. And its been a lot of fun!

I'm stitching this 2 over 1 tent stitch on 28ct ivory jobelan (I think?). Since I have only been using very pale shades of pink, gray and beige its kind of hard to see what I have stitched. I'm going to keep at it for a while so I will have another update in a week or so, I hope.

This is really rather attractive. How astonishing, though, to have a HAED where the background isn't entirely stitched. Must save a bit of work and make it much quicker.

Not surprisingly I love this chart Carole! Looking forward to watching your progress - although I am (semi!) determined not to start any more HAEDs next year, this might tip me over the edge!

I don't usually post so quickly but this is sooo easy (comparatively) for an HAED so far. Working the pages down instead of across means I can get lots done quickly. Plus, there are so many color blocks right now it is going fast. I've decided that I am going to stick with this one for a while, at least until I hear from one of its siblings (do I personalize my projects way too much? Yeah ) that they need attention. Anyway, no kitty pics this time since it is one continuous battle to keep Laverne from situating herself right in front of the chart.

Didn't think it would take so long since there were so many large blocks of colors, but there was enough mixing and matching that it took longer than I thought it would, but I was so surprised when I looked at the picture and realized that I have stitched an arm. I would say that almost every stitching session begins with Miss Laverne



Do you think she wants to be the focus of my attention? Her response to my most polite request to move herself is


But she does eventually move and so I have nearly finished the first column. The next page down is BUTTERFLIES!!! but I needed a break but will be getting back to this relatively soon I hope. (Among other things I have some Hardanger designs I want to do for coasters and my sampler to finish....)
Please excuse the excessive wrinkles. The light colors on the white fabric is kind of hard to see, but her left arm is clearly there. I am so excited!!!
