Re: Mabel's other stitching

Post by Mabel Figworthy »

I've done it! I've unpicked something in my KF flower that has been nagging at me ever since I stitched it. I've been trying to ignore it but it simply wouldn't go away :-) . Pics show the annoying gappy version, the unpicked version, and the restitched version.
It would have been so much easier if I'd done this before couching the Elizabethan twist...

The finish is really great and well worth the additional job done on the project. Now it looks perfectly beautiful.

Mabel, I don't think I would have noticed the gap without such an extreme close up picture, but I can understand it was bothering you and that's the important thing.

Well done for managing to unpick it stitch again.

It looks so rich and vibrant, so soft and strokeable.

It's what I tell people when teaching workshops or classes and they ask me whether they should unpick/re-do something: is it going to bother you every time you look at it, and so diminish your pleasure in it? Then unpick. If you can see it but it doesn't bother you, just leave it - nobody else is going to notice unless you tell them :-) !

No, you really couldn't have left that, and it's a credit to your skill that it now looks as if you never unpicked it at all. :applesauce:

Using my new clip-on magnifiers I finihsed the last of the silk stitching on this - now it's just gold to finish (and possible a little bit to unpick where I don't like the curve - see arrow).

The magniefiers work great, although you wouldn't want to wear them all evening; but for the odd bit of really detailed work (I was doing split stitch and long & short in one strand) they are "magnify-cent" :-)

WOW :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: That is awesome. I rather agree with you re that inner loop, not quite curved. I am sure the next time we see it, it will be perfect.
