Q-Snap covers

Post by 19Roland19 »

I had never heard of these until today. Sounds like a wonderfully useful tool, so I googled and found this tutorial.

Here's a picture in case I'm not the only one that didn't know what it is.

I agree with Karen. I have purchased mine, though. They look easy enough to make but I know me...I'd buy some super cute fabric and it would sit in the box with a quilt I started four years ago. :-)

Qsnap covers are good not just for keeping your fabric edges clean, but they can be needle and counting pin holders (that's what I did until I acquired magnetic needle holders), and you can tuck stuff into them (i.e., a bobbin of floss).

I made mine out of an old pillow case, but I do intend to make some prettier ones at some point.

I agree with Debby that they're useful for sticking needles in, and tucking parked threads in them.

I unexpectedly ended up at a mall today and picked up some elastic. I'm pretty sure I've got some material around here that's big enough. It might end up being plain tan coloured, but that's OK.

I actually made mine (which is something of a miracle if you knew my sewing machine abilities), made one for my 8" and one for my 11" Q-Snap, I followed the video tutorial Tricia the Left Handed Stitcher has on her youtube channel, it was great. One of the other Youtubers put up a great idea of stitching magnets into pockets inside the Q-Snap cover itself so that the cover acts as your scissor/needle minder instead of having the minders on your fabric, which can be a pain when you're using the smaller frames and stitching space is at a premium. Here's my 11" one on the frame. The covers are also great for tucking in the extra fabric you have flapping around and is the main reason I made mine :)

I need a "LIKE" button.

I love the idea of outting a magnet into it.
