OT vibes for Ellie

Post by Fizzbw »

Hi all, last night my beloved lurcher got ill, we rushed her to the vets (this was about 9pm) and she seems to have done something to her back, one hind leg is a bit dodgy the other very dodgy. We had to carry her around in a plastic dog bed. Vet gave her a powerful pain killer.

We are taking her back in now to have bloods and x rays to see what's going on if we can, she's 12/14 so nothing invasive will be done.

Could I have some hugs and vibes for her please?

I'm off to a Cardiff today to have a very important appt with the technician for my broken motor cortex stimulator so she will stay at the vets all day, but at least she'll be looked after. And she'd be there even if I didn't go!!

Very worried and sad for my wonderful Ellie.

I saw this on FB earlier. I am so sorry to hear about Ellie :( my thoughts have been with you all day.

A few months ago my pseudo dog (Dog I critter sit for monthly) broke her wrist and they were worried it wouldn't heal properly due to her age of 13, and there wasn't going to be any surgeries due to her age. However she sure has bounced back after a few months in casts and splints. Dogs will let you know when it is their time to go, and most will fight until the very end. You're doing all you can for her right now to help her be as comfortable as possible and I am sure she is very loved.

I will be sending more positive vibes tonight and tomorrow! Hugs to you and Ellie.

Definitely.
Best wishes heading in your direction. It's always so terrible when your pets get ill, because you can't explain to them what's happening.
All the best.

I hope all comes out well for Ellie! One of our dogs had a disc prolapse that sounds similar. He needed painkillers and anti-inflammatories for a few weeks and very limited movement and he still lived a very good life. We kept his weight down to reduce stress on his back and gave him limited exercise to keep his back and legs strong.

We had some memorable walks where he would walk a bit of the way and then we'd pull him in a wagon for the rest. :)

:x: for Ellie! and  for you and hope your appointment goes well too.

   for you and for Ellie and sending lots of good thoughts that she (and you and your family) get through this and that your meeting with the technician is productive also. We are keeping :x: and paws crossed at our house that everything turns out well. It is so hard when our fur babies are older (L&S will be 16 next month).

Thank you folks, just got back in. The good news is there's no tumour or anything horrid and she's got better reflexes after the big dose of anti-inflamatories. The x rays shows some small narrowing over the area she is sore but obviously on a x ray you can see the actual disc. So there's no point at this time to do any further investigation so it's anti inflamatories and rest.

It's good to hear your dog was ok Tiffany, thanks for that :)

Of course it doesn't help that she's a grreyhoundy thing who has a zeros toleration for pain!!

As for me, the technician couldn't find any faults with his gadget, but he's switched me off and so far no pain :whoop: it might take a while for the nerves to calm done where the pain was before but no slicing pain or electrical pain. Now I just have to a it for an appt with the new consultant and see if we can sort the issue and switch the stimulator back on. If nothing else we will be able to see if the stimulator has been doing anything, if my TN pain levels increase...

Again, big hugs!! And when I got home the postman had brought me some cabs for needle minder saying "keep calm and carry on" so that was apt!!!

Jackson and I will continue to keep our paws, toes, and fingers crossed (except when I need said fingers for my stitching) for both you and your beautiful Ellie. Thanks for letting us know how today went (for both of you).
