2015 Stitches - stitchhappy18 (12-31-15 Update)

Post by stitchhappy18 »

Hello Everyone!

Having a SAL thread last year really helped me to make progress so after a bit of an extended absence the time has come for a new thread.

Here is my current WIP. I actually started it last July. Unfortunately my husband was diagnosed with cancer last summer which required a couple of surgeries and two rounds of chemo so that sent my stitchy bug into hibernation. I have been off work this week so excellent progress has been made on the current project.

I did finish the project I had in last year's SAL thread in January so I will share of picture of it as soon as I take one.

So happy to be back. :whoop:

How lovely to have you back, and what lovely stitching. I'm not surprised your stitchy bug gave you a bit of space, and I hope all the chemo has made a good difference, and that Mr happystitch18 is on the mend.

It is great to have you back again and with another beautiful project too. It is looking very beautiful and with lovely neat stitches and gorgeous colours.

I am glad that your stitchy bug left you room to cope with with DH's illness and I do hope that by now he is well on the road to a full recovery.

:applesauce: :applesauce: What beautiful birds! Not surprised that your stitchy bug stayed quietly waiting while you cared for your husband. I hope that he is well on his way to recovery. It is good to have you back again and I am looking forward to seeing more updates from you!

Well I have not had as much stitchy time as I would like so my progress has been a bit slow. Plus this week I had to stop my current project to start and finish another.

Here is the progress on my current project. Just a bit more back stitching required in the upper left and it will be finished.

Image

Also here is my quick and easy project. I took it to the framer today and should have it back in a week or so. It was intended to be a birthday gift for my boss, but she is leaving so it will be a goodbye gift instead. She is always saying "It is what it is" so when I saw this pattern I had to get it to make for her.

Image

I also have discovered q snaps. How on earth did I ever stitch in hand before?

:applesauce: :applesauce: Lovely updates. The birds are beautiful! And now you are so close to a finish! And I love your boss' gift!! that would be great for my sister since that is one of her favorite phrases! I would ask if she was your boss, but she isn't leaving her job yet.

The birds are beautiful - I can almost hear them singing. And I also love "it is what it is" - it has helped me accept the fact that some things are just out of my control - let it go.

Love those birds, they are gorgeous and so close to a finish too. What a neat little saying that is and beautifully stitched too. Well Done on both of them. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement! Today is a momentous occasion...I actually finished the robins. This is the first time I have ever finished 2 projects in the same year never mind the same month.  :whoop:

Image

It will be a bit before it is framed since it is one of three projects that will be hung on the wall together. My OCD requires that they have matching mats and frames.

For good measure here is my new start out of my stash of projects I have already kitted up. I was in the mood for something monochromatic.
